@CDGator -I hope your cast iron cleanup worked. My old gf in Georgia kept my grandmother's 10" skillet my mom left me so I stopped at this antique row in Wrens Georgia and bought an old one off the wall last year. It's nasty and has been riding in a bag under my car seat. I still have every intention of rescuing that thing one day.

@-THE DUDE- I started using parchment under the crust of my cheesecakes when I make them

That looks great...I love sourdough especially making grilled sammiches out of it. Never tried making my own though

Last April someone gave us some sourdough starter that supposedly was from the original starter in SF a long time ago. I let it die and then eventually got more. It’s stressful.

The starter that my wife got came from one of our friends, who got it from another lady, who got it from another, who got it from my wife’s mother 15 or so years ago. My mother-in-law has been gone for about 5 years now, so it’s kind of neat to have something related to her. She was a great cook and baker.

Be careful kind lady of that last remark. @soflagator is a Seinfeld fan and will likely rake you over the coals!

Btw my wife is doing the sourdough bread, feeding the starter and what not. She’s made dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls to go along with the loaves. Lots of times we’ll just cut a slice, warm it up in the microwave, and then butter it. But I must say that I agree with your assessment of the sandwiches!

 Yes, I think that was the angle she was playing. Probably a million ways I could’ve gone with that one, but I decided to refrain.

That said, the fact that this is the first we’ve seen of them and she’s not out parading them all over the internet, I think, says a lot about her character.

Stuffed beef tenderloin roast with a potato rutabaga casserole and side salad. Mrs G really did a nice job for Sunday dinner. My contribution was a nice Chilean Cab.

Yesterday I made a Buffalo dip that was good. The scoops are a must for dips . Pigs in the blanket that were what you expect from such apps . The meal was smoked pork shoulder . I was really looking forward to it but couldn’t help but feel underwhelmed . It certainly wasn’t terrible just was expecting better from myself on the pork . Kinda like expecting Ike or Jacquez and ending up with Kelvin Kight. Could’ve been so much more but we will always have the 38 bubble screens in Jax.

The past couple of weeks I've tried my hand at bread making. I make killer buttermilk biscuits but never felt the urge to learn breadmaking.

I'm no expert but I have successfully replicated Olive Garden bread sticks, Texas Roadhouse buns w/ cinnamon butter spread, Golden Corral buns w/ honey butter , Italian bread and French bread.

I went through 4 - 5lb bags of bread flour ... most going in the garbage can.

Once I got the hang of kneading it became almost cathartic.

Another check off the bucket list.

(and I didn't take a single pic ... wtf ? )
