This is why some of us aren’t even remotely worried about a “Mark Richt” scenario. Does anyone think we’re the ones turned off by that demeanor?

This. Richt was loved by uga fans all the way until the end because he's not a condescending d-bag. The brass thought they only had a small window of time to hire Kirby so that took their chance. Kirby is trying his best to make them regret it more and more each year as well.

There's a lot of different opinions amongst gator fans about Mullen's coaching ability but no one likes the fuchers personality. He is probably less liked than Butters, most of us just feel he's a better coach. If the quality of play dips to butter's levels I think his ass is gone.

So many ways to answer that without killing Jones’ little remaining confidence and without sounding like a jerk. Add this to the bad of the night. And I get that players like his loyalty, matter of fact style, but the question is beyond legitimate. It also won’t be the last time he hears it, whether he wants to or not.

That response tells me Dan absolutely knows that he backed the wrong horse. No idea why it took that game for him to figure it out. I have no doubt Dan knows EJ can't get it done. Now we'll see if he'll admit that his 3 year project is a failure and move on to the next guy. I'm not hopeful that he will until the season is lost.

By all accounts AR completely out performed EJ all fall.
So, if teammates seeing this think, if this dude can't win a job, what chance do I have!
How can this be healthy in the long run? How do you explain Dexter losing the start to a guy that's been here a week but ignore the talent of AR?

Who did Dexter lose a start to that’s only been here a week?

And it’s literally been only the first game of the season regarding AR and EJ.

Sideways passing. Mostly option running (though honestly the I formation innthe redzone the couple of times we saw it was refreshing).
You forgot the 1.5 quarters of decent playcalling and 2.5 quarters of WTF was that playcalling.....the go for it on 4th every time in the redzone( which telegraphs the QB run on 3rd down)which is now scouted by every team we'll ever play...this guy Mullen makes for an easy read.

For me it’s not even about backing the wrong horse. Coaches are generally stubborn and keep trying to make things work even if evidence suggests it won’t. We were still riding Doug Johnson in ‘99 for that matter. But if anyone had asked Spurrier the question about QB decisions he wouldn’t have acted like a 2 year old. As I said, you can answer that question with a resounding endorsement of EJ as the starter, but in a way that doesn’t make you sound like an arrogant prick.

Those types of reactions make me wonder if guys like Grantham aren’t being fired because he’d basically be admitting defeat to the lowly fans who called it a bad hire day one.

EJ is a good kid, not debating that at all.

However, he's been here three years, and last night you still saw how terrible his mechanics were. Throwing off his back foot often, not planting the front foot when needed, and floating balls out to the flat, one of which would have been a pick six, and will be against any SEC team.

Dip**** Dan ain't no QB whisperer. Arrogant prick on the other hand.....

I would hope folks are sitting EJ down (Toney) and asking what he sees as any post college potential employment. Whatever it is, it won’t be as a qb

I was thinking about this. can you imagine what Spurrier would have said?

yeah he can run really well cant he? neither of them can throw for a lick, but that's on me not on them. I'm the one that put them out there. I should have coached them better.

I don't think either of them can throw tbh. Which is a staple of mullen qb crootin the past few years
You know when you use the forward pass, 3 things can happen and two of them are bad. 4.4 yds and cloud of dust is the way real football is meant to be played. Passing is for sissies. (Feel free to add more Knute Rockne expressions here as you see fit.)

I like the way DM, EJ and AR are handling this. They’re not letting the team be divided. At some point AR will likely be the man. In the meantime I suspect he will get plenty of touches. EJ will improve but AR’s ceiling is higher.
EJ has been here for 4 years. I think he is what he is. I don't think he should be the starter but I think we could still use him in a limited role to give AR a breather because he's obviously gonna be running it alot.

Dorky Dan is not my cup of tea, and I imagine he’s not liked by many. However, he’s not the sniffling, lying, no work ethic, @ahole that Butters is.

Butters had no redeeming personality traits.

To be fair, do we really trust these kickers?

This guy is the best personality of anyone since Meyer. He works, but his big fault is not being able to do what needs to be done such as firing friends or personnel changes. I'd take him over Butters and Champ.
