John L. Williams

"Williams accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he was a fullback for coach Charley Pell and coach Galen Hall's Florida Gators football teams from 1982 to 1985. Williams usually shared the backfield with tailbackNeal Anderson, behind the blocking of the Gators' outstanding offensive line known as "The Great Wall of Florida." The Gators finished with identical 9–1–1 records in 1984 and 1985, and best-in-the-conference records of 5–0–1 and 5–1. Williams was recognized as a second-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) selection in 1984 and 1985, and an honorable mention All-American in 1985. He finished his four-year college career with 2,409 yards rushing and 863 yards receiving. Williams was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame as a "Gator Great" in 1997. In a 2006 article series written for The Gainesville Sun, the Sun sportswriters rated him as the No. 31 all-time Gator from among the 100 greatest players of the first century of Florida football."

Also had a very good NFL career.

John L. is a must. Here are a few others of note.

Luis Oliver
Jarvis Williams
Brad Culpepper
Ellis Johnson
Huey Richardson
Alonzo Johnson
Reidel Anthony
Ricky Nattiel
Erirct Rhett
Ike Hilliard
Mike Peterson

That "out clause" rumor is THE most ludicrous report of this entire saga. I would believe they interviewed Belichick as a viable candidate before I would believe they had a guy sign a contract that gave him a window of time within which to change his mind for another team.

Lets be honest. Janoris Jenkins is one of the best cover corners in the league. Top 5 IMO. He's gotta be on there even though he was a dumbass.
FWIW, I always have said that his career, at Florida, was the most impressive thing I've ever witnessed. We've had a glut of great cornerbacks over the years, but I've never seen a CB play that well before.

And your posts usually deserve polishing.
wow, you actually can come up with something worthy of a like. Nice zinger!

However, as to your, "our defenses are just so great" claim. It's totally bogus at this point. The only good defenses in this league right now are bama and uga. The rest are crap, just like the O's.

Nice additions. I was just about to add most of these. Especially Ike, Reidel, Rhett, Peterson, Culpepper, and THE Ellis Johnson. Ellis is my all-time favorite UF DT. I think he was the best we ever had. He was an absolute stud!

The others had slipped my mind, though. Nice list!

Please keep this thread on track of hopelessness and despair.

Too much happiness going on.

Thank you.

I agree. He signed a meaningless piece of paper- so we are told, Sure pal.
None of it happened, as if it did, well, that too pathetic to be believed.
So they came back with nothing one has to conclude -or the 'signed contract truthers' are correct.
Can't go with that either.

Why in the heck would ANYBODY draw up a worthless contract like what is being reported and then gather up your top brass to fly 3 hours away to get the worthless document signed?

Dude it’s on the internet. If you can’t look up most profitable athletic departments idk what to tell you. Florida makes way more than UCLA.

Dude, that stuff on the internet means nothing. If some billionaire is putting up the money they might have more to spend on this that we do. If you don't understand thta IDK.

I suspect you are correct except that there is something we can do to influence the process. We can vigorously explore other options. And I hope we are for our protection.

I bet we are but some have jobs and we are not going to contact them directly until after this week's games. We have been (I think) doing that since the beginning.

There are five possible answers.
1. Signing did not happen and there was never any such document.
2. Signing did not happen, but we flew out because we pulled out all stops and became desperate.
3. Signing w/ an out clause did happen, and we flew out because we pulled out all stops and became desperate.
4. We expected to sign but CK changed his mind between accepting the meeting and attendance of meeting.

EDIT: 5. The contract is signed/locked up in secret.
