Because of Florida's algebra rule, JUCO's have a hard time qualifying unless they planned ahead.

I was mostly referring to last year's class, which was ranked 10th by a couple of the services. If you recall, most of the pumpers were having a circle jerk praising Butters elite recruiting skills (if I have time I'll post some of the comments)..
Butters was OWNING and DESTROYING and BABIKING and MACKING us. Finishing 6th in the SEC was the best class ever!!!!

I think Cope wants to be a Gator. But I think the kid needs a strong father figure in his life. If we take him lets hope the staff can give him the extra support that he needs.

I hope we land Copeland because any elite talent is welcomed, but I sure hope he grows up. He's an attention whore who is living up every second of this process. I see him as one of these guys that has this big ordeal on signing day with hundreds of people and cameras and strippers and God knows what else to see him pick up a hat. Frankly, it makes me want to puke.

Just STFU and come in ready to work.

Agreed! Mullen seems determined to get this program turned around in a hurry. I think the S&C program is the first step towards that. If Copeland decides to come here, I doubt he'll still be much of a diva if he can survive the offseason.

I'd just as soon we move on from his twiiting, diva, gum run, ass. We've had enough of that worthless crap lately.

Watched 100’s if not 1.000’s of young 17 and 18 year olds come on board the USMC as individuals. Many very immature...some real cocky...some scared as sh*t...but good leadership can get them on track and a contributing member of the team. These are kids in every sense of the word...many have never had internal guidance... or routine discipline. Take these same kids and hype them up as superior athletes and egos run amuck.

I know nothing about this Copeland kid other than he is an elite talent and likes to tweet. I would hope that our staff is thoroughly vetting this kid...school suspensions, team suspensions, grades, criminal history, affiliations, etc. I doubt there are many secrets out there. I’ve seen immature 17 year olds labeled divas that were the exact opposite.

If this kid’s biggest issue is enjoyment of the recruiting limelight....I’d take him in a heartbeat and start applying leadership. Any of the other factors start appearing I would just walk away.

I would prefer a kid that has no social media and just shows up wearing the hat....but times are changing.

I hope we get copeland. You can't win without a couple knuckleheads. Not to mention i think more players would jump on board.

I think it is the SEC's math rule. UF's specific rule shave more to do with repeated courses.

BTW, prompted by this thread,I updated my depth chart by class somewhat today. I have it with:

A. Four recent transfers in: Delance, Dunlap, Grimes and Jefferson

B. Three announced declared for the NFL (you can never be sure about these until the official list comes out): Bryan, Callaway, Pineiro

C. Thirteen signee: The names are here: http://floridagators.com/documents/2017/12/20/2017_December_Signing_Day_Media_Packet.pdf

So I have UF with a total 80 players with eligibility in 2018 or the future. That leave 5 slots pending further attrition. We all know some of that attrition is coming but I wonder if UF will get to 25.

Accoriding to 247Sports he was offered by OSU yesterday while they were in Dallas preparing for todays game against USC:
"The offer from OSU is the fifth for the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder, as the Bucks join Kentucky, SMU, Jackson State, and Georgia on his list.

I am sure CDM will get him on campus at some point. He is a 2020 prospect after all.

Agreed! I served in the U.S. Navy and can attest that a lot of the guys coming in make Copeland look like a choir boy.

Honestly, I'm not sure why so many on this board are giving the kid a hard time. He's not a troublemaker. A 17 year old kid that starves attention and likes to tweet... Yeah, that makes him a bad guy? GTFOH! Sorry to break the news to you, but that's the way kids are these days.

If he were getting arrested or doing drugs or being mischievous I would be concerned also. But what he's doing is a non issue IMO. It's par for the course in today's society.

Let's just hope he comes here and that he can play. His Twitter acumen is none of my concern.

That's just flat-out false. Most of these kids make their commitment without the ridiculous hat ceremony.
