I hope you will recover from the state I have put you in.

Outside of the playoff bowls, EVERY SINGLE bowl game this year is completely, 100% meaningless.

The state I am in is incredulity that the guy leading this beautiful website has such a completely 100% stupid opinion. Love you anyway. I've already recovered.

It's easy for you or me to say that from our couches with potato chips on our chins. Some of these guys have generational wealth on the line. Should they really risk that for the Fartknocker Bowl, a game no one will ever remember again? GMAFB.

Players should absolutely play if there is a championship on the line, otherwise I don't blame them. The bowl games have become a bloated joke. 75% should be wiped off the map forever, and the minimum number to qualify should be at least 8 wins.....9 is even better.

If this point if it isn't the playoff it doesn't matter, the BCS games have even become a joke. It's a nice prize for the team overall for a season well done, but we saw how the Michigan players treated it last year that were moving on to the NFL... They come take the vacation, get the gift bags, and stay in street clothes. They are become obsolete.

A NYD 6 bowl is FAR from meaningless......particularly if it is in the state of Fl......Literally 1,000's of recruits NOT ONLY from next years class but future classes as well are watching live or on TV....I'm also pretty certain boosters will probably open their wallets wider for a program in the offseason that doesn't embarrass them by taking a sh!t(sorry Adam Lane) on a day when their professional peers and business associates along with EVERYONE is watching....

Some of you people are what's wrong with CFB today

Crete, before the ESD I would agree with you... but over 80% of the blue chip prospects (maybe over 90%) were off the board before the bowl games really got into gear. It's a changing landscape.

Outside of the playoff bowls, EVERY SINGLE bowl game this year is completely, 100% meaningless. Winning or losing makes no real difference. I fully support wiping out every single bowl except the playoff versions. 3 total bowls - that's it. You're either in the Top 4 or you are at home scratching your buttcrack.
While I agree that they have diminished greatly with the advent of the playoff system, they still serve some purposes. (Though for the most part I don't mean one of the lesser bowls like the one FSU is probably headed to.)
For those that have folks that will buy a ticket, they are great for the fan base. Not living in Florida and having younger kids, Mrs. G and I had not been to a Gator game in years, but last season the Gators came to Atlanta so we were able to go to the Peach Bowl (along with a whole lot of other Gator fans), take our kids to their first in person game and have a great time. They can, under certain circumstances serve as a fun reward for the players. Most of Michigan's team looked like they wished they were somewhere else, but the Gators looked like they were having a blast. All game long their sideline was upbeat and excited. Lastly, those extra bowl practices can't help but be a bonus for both the coaches and quite a few of the players. Who here doesn't think our O-lineman could use 15 extra practices?
This particular year we may have the added bonus of playing our bowl game in S. Fla. Getting a game in the Miami area, where we are sure to draw quite a few alums, and possibly crush our opponents could help continue to showcase the program with some 2021 and after recruits. If you find the games ridiculous, then don't watch; I assure you I will however.

In 91, 93, 94, and 95, UF won the SEC, so they accomplished at least one of their goals.
We were SEC Champs in 1990 also.

If Bammer gets to count championships for several probation seasons, so do we.

Do not micro-manage the damn board because some people don't have a sense of humor.

Our bowl game is completely meaningless. I find it hard to bag on a guy with millions on the line. Very hard.

This is 100% accurate. Outside of the final 4 teams, the actual game is meaningless. With guys sitting, or half assing it, you can;t get any read on anything. I will say the biggest benefit for all the teams is the extra practice time for the players coming back next year.

As for anyone who chooses to sit out, I have no problem with it at all. Whether they or we think they should or should not play is not the point. Of course we would like everyone to play, but those players are telling you how meaningless the game is by sitting out. Business before pleasure.

I liked it because the harsh, prickish tone made me laugh...not because I weighing in on whether he really felt that way. I presumed he was being deliberately over the top.

@oxrageous told me to like something if I thought it was funny. He said it was the same thing.

You did and now we have all this controversy on the board and I am afraid feelings will be upset. We really need a funny button.

I absolutely agree on the bowl games. I've always said, at least 8 wins in the regular season to make a bowl. What's sad is in all of sports, both college and professional, it's becoming so watered down. MLB, let's add more Wild Card teams. NBA and NHL, half the teams get in the playoffs. NCAA basketball, expand to 68.

It can't be as meaningfully earned if everyone is getting in. It should be special and difficult to make it to the postseason. That's the point.

That said, I hate the idea of players sitting out bowl games. It's become a selfish me-me world and forget about the team that provided me with a full athletic scholarship.

But if it helps to eliminate about half of these mediocre bowls, that could be a good thing.

And yet if we were to lose the game without our best players people would lose their shat over how bad a coach Mullen is.
