Let's talk about QB Robby Ashford out of Hoover. After I watched his 2018 highlights, here are my observations:
1. Sees/scans the field very well and picks secondary receivers
2. The play calling did not have a lot of designed QB option runs, rather he had the option to run if the receivers were covered. At least from the highlights it looks like passing first from the shotgun, take off if covered offense
3. He's a good runner, probably not a 4.5/40 runner but fast enough
4. Needs a bit of cleanup on footwork but nothing major. Needs a bit of seasoning, 1-2 years before he can take over.
Now let's talk depth charts. Auburn has Bo Nix, Joey Gatewood and Cord Sandberg. He will not dethrone Bo Nix unless Bo Nix gets hurt. Georgia will have Fromm (maybe, if he wants to stay for all 4 years), Dwan Mathis and Beck. Ehhhh, Beck is a better fit than him for that system. I have not watched Mathis's film yet so I am not sure whether he can beat him. PSU will have only Sean Clifford as a RS Jr and Michael Johnson Jr as a RS Freshman by that time. They also have Micah Bowens in the 2020 class. We will have E. Jones, Jalen Jones and possibly another QB in the 2020 class.
