Ok UF finished up 2019 today, so let's also put 2020 to bed. Here is your 2020 UF class:
QB: Beck
RB: Bowman, EJ Smith
WR/TE: Douglas, FRAZIARS, MANUEL, Rosemy
OL: Braun, Martinez, Merriweather-Lewis, Rivers
DL: BROWN, DEXTER, GRIFFIS, T. Smith
LB: Flowe, LEE, Mathis
DB: Brooks, Davis, TORRENCE, Williams
Players in ALL CAPS are currently verbally committed to UF. This class gives you 305.59 points on 247sports composite based on the rankings as of today.
Beck is the QB from Jacksonville who just decommitted from U A L. I considered including Richardson as a second QB despite his decommitment.
Bowman is from Lakeland. EJ Smith is Emmitt's son. Like the 2019 class UF must continue to get guys from Lakeland and a legacy ala getting Elam.
I merged WR and TE into one category as UF moved a TE from 2018 to WR and Frazier is a big receiver/DB who could end up at either position or DB in this class. Three of the four are from FL. Douglas is a bit of a flier and from Louisiana but reportedly likes UF a lot.
I hope UF gets 4 OL in this coming class so UF does not need 7 or 8 in some other year. All but Martinez are from north FL. Rivers is from the Jacksonville area, Merriweather-Lewis is from Ocala and Braun you know about. Martinez is from Ft. Lauderdale Acquinas.
Three of the DL are committed. T.Smith is a middle clogger who at least one poster here will like. He might favor Clemson at this time.
At LB Flowe is a highly ranked guy from CA. Lee is listed as an athlete, but appears to be a SS/LB to me. Mathis is another FL kid who is just a stab at his position.
Brooks and Davis are Jacksonville area CBs. Williams is the S from Deland now committed to Oregon. Torrence is a S from GA.
So 7 of my 22 are already committed to UF. If 5 or 6 of the 7 stick and I gets 5 or 6 of the remaining 15 correct, I will have 10 to 12 of the class right and think I did a pretty good job. I am sure I will be wrong about plenty of these and lots will change in the next 10 to 12 months.
Clearly Jacksonville is very important in recruiting this year. I mainly guess FL kids given there are plenty of players in FL and UF should have a leg up over in state competitors. So there you have it. I will be happy to take the 305.59 points and let the rankings fall where they may.
