Gators off to a good start at the Hoover Met today, up 5 to 1 and still batting in the top of the 3rd.
JB, ultimately the coaches have to bear the responsibility. It might not seem fair to some, but in truth the great majority of coaches in all sports understand and accept that. A part of all successful coaches is wanting to prove the naysayers wrong, but that certainly isn’t the end-all. O’Sullivan will most likely never publicly tell the truth about an under-performing player(s), but they’ll somehow get better or get gone.We always blame the coaches...
Good thing is we only used one pitcher today, saved the bullpen.
That's the way we treated this tournament a few years ago. This is going to be a good win for us today, shall we hold on. Not because Cowbell put their best team on the field, they did not. They started a shyt pitcher, but guess what, that is not UF's issue. You play the team that is on the field. This tourney is meaningless to ARK, Vandy, MSU and Tinerc and they are treating it as an intrasquad scrimmage. But for us if anything is learned from today is PUT BALL in PLAY. Just play the team in front of you and regardless of result, just try to improve on something. And today that was PUT BALL in PLAY.
But it is not the way a SEC tourney should be treated. Perhaps the SEC regular season should be shortened by a week so teams could play the tournament and still recuperate for the regionals. That's the way we treated this tournament a few years ago.
I'm in total agreement with you. Over the past few years when I go to Bham to see the Gators we have been shellacked. I like to WIN the thing. This year we have no choice but to put our best foot forward and win the thing! But it is not the way a SEC tourney should be treated. Bama baseball has already exceeded my expectations. We're more of a softball school anyways...
Great win and we took advantage of the fact that MSU decided to pack it in, rest up and wait for the regionals. Barco does look good and that a huge plus. Now lets see how we do today with a Bama team that won't pack it in but may be out of pitching.Wow didn't see this one coming. HUGE blowout win vs a top 8 team/program. I see some trying to explain it away(as expected) that MSU wasn't using their best players but that is not our fault and we run ruled them and DESTROYED them. Barco dynamic yet again with only 4 hits and 1 run allowed to improve his record to 10-2. Some complained last game that we didn't get enough hits in the WIN but today we get 18 hits and 13 runs and we only struck out 3 times! Gators only hit the 1 HR and used small ball to drive in runs which is something many have complained about all season or all of Sully's career I guess. Great win for the Gators today no doubt.
