Not going to equate Kentucky to LSU but consider that he was inserted into a game we were losing on the road in a raucous environment that required HIM to win. That’s pretty good experience to prep for corn dogs. Can’t really think of much better given our schedule.

We'll score more than 13 on them law. You're way underestimating our offense and overestimating their defense.

i cant imagine the game being over as soon as the defense intercepts a pass or recovers a fumble. the game would be over once the play is over and that doesnt happen until the player with the ball is down. If he scooped or caught it and took a knee then yes, that would be it. But you cant end the play and the game before the player is down because what if he intercepts it, then runs, then promptly fumbles it right back to the offense?

the game isnt over until the play is over, and the play is live until the ball carrier is down.

Great post. I agree. But, what stat is this referring to?

Yeah, I was wrong. First time ever on the forum, so that was quite a memorable moment for us all:rolleyes:

Zambo actually found an example in post #107 of a game where ASU beat USC by 13. That was the only example we could find of a team winning by more than 8 because most players know to take a knee as soon as their team gains possession of a turnover, since that ends the game with a win.

So it's 1-11, not 1-13 but still not good.

I'm glad he has that experience, he'll at least have some idea as to what he's up against. We just know this will be a different beast, every mistake will be deafening.

Goes along with the idea that it's really hard to get super fired up two games in a row. Just like us fans, players are human not robots. Even though the coaches preach going about your business, doing your job, one game at a time, etc, the players invested heavily physically and emotionally in the Auburn game. I know, for whatever reason, I was a lot more fired up for that game than this one, even though this is a great matchup. I'm definitely excited for it, but for some reason not the same anticipation and excitement as the last one, and I get the same sense from the rest of the forum too.

I guess the best thing about teams being in the same situation going 1-11 is you're saying there's a chance. (insert GIF)

Thanks. I’d be interested to see how many of those were top 10 matchups. If any.

True, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing to come down to earth a bit.(As a fan base). Plus, last week being at home and homecoming, the forum is always gonna generate more buzz. I’m perfectly content with the media and some posters alike not gushing on us and gushing on lsu. A -2 pt line compared to a -14 pt line certainly sways the expectations of a fan base for better or worse. Personally, I’m just as excited as last week. I don’t go in to any game thinking we CANT’t win. Next week up and just keep winning. I’ve missed this feeling for so many years and going in to Saturdays in my mind expecting to win. Haven’t had that in a long time and might be foolish, but Mullen has given that back.

If they did win this weekend, it would say an awful lot about how competitive they’ll be for a championship. Winning two matchups like this in a row is a mark of a contender. Losing wouldn’t necessarily mean they’re not but it would be a massive feat to pull off. I’d feel a whole lot better if this game was swapped with the USC game.

This is 100% correct and I said it in the game thread or here. But I disagreed that the talking heads alike would put LSU down like they did auburn. We win this game. A whole lot of people will start to flip-flop on this team. Again, from a season standpoint it’s not the end all be all by any means. But, a win would change the minds of many. A lot because of who we play. Where and when we play. Perception is everything. They credit our AU win to the swamp. Go stomp the f*in purple people eaters again at their place. ON THEIR TERMS.

Interesting stat. Where did you get that stat from? How did they define emotional wins?

Edit: nvm I saw that stat. Damn pretty good odds, maybe that is what vegas is banking on.

Another thing being discounted here - we played a very physical matchup against a good team. LSU played a patsy that they could’ve - if they were smart - rested their players in. Then again, I saw that Burrow was slinging TDs in the fourth of that blowout so maybe they squandered that advantage.

Doesn't matter if you agree or don't agree. Numbers don't lie and they tell the story. Or do you believe the 1-11 record is because the second team in these 2 game underdog gauntlets happens to be better than the first team 92% of the time?
