Good to see him working hard in the off-season. While I have seen a few of his vids, they have all been shot from behind him. Actually seeing a shot from the side while he is kicking a 70 yarder reveals he really could kick this in a game. Notice the ball height when it comes off his foot. Many kick the ball to low at that distance even if they have the leg.

I'm embarrassed that we are so excited to have a kicker.

First time in Knoxville we cross the 50 and stall, trot him out there. The inbreds won't know what to think.

I'm excited to have a kicker. Better than being embarrased we don't have one ... and lose...a lot.

I don't think we're gonna lose many games by 3 points or less over the next couple years.

Good to see that he's working hard this offseason. I think it's good that he missed a couple in the spring game so he wouldn't have a reason to be complacent.

With a leg like that give him a chance to kick a FG when we are at about the 50 if that will be the final play before halftime. It would be much better odds than a hail mary and he kicks it so far you wouldn't have to worry about a return too much.

Kickers are minimized but they win and lose a lot of ball games. The last few years have been testament to that.

People pay them little heed until they really need one. I guess because they aren't involved in what we consider the real aspects of football (running, tackling, passing, catching) they are thought of as not very important. It's kind of like some golfers being more concerned about driving a long 300 yard drive than a 6 inch putt even though they each count equally.

:clap:On game occasions where a miss would not hurt us, I say let Eddy break the CFB record for
FG distance. Eddy's trajectory rises immediately so it's unlikely he'll get blocked.

Set in 1998, by Martin Gramatica, the modern record is 65 yards. Modern means
with the narrow goal posts and not kicking off a "T".
Article says a guy (Nick Rose) for UTexas kicked an 80 yarder in practice. Probably would have
gotten blocked = low trajectory in real game.

Oh yeah, has a placekicker ever come close to winning the Heisman ? We got us a
Mr.Ed that kicks !

Gonna be great fun comparing to past years the % number of drives we have that end in points.
Whatever our last few years' %s of drives ending in no points, those days are very over.

I bet we more than double that %, it's a shoe in.
Somebody might should start the hunt for a sculptor who does boot statues. :pumper:

I want him to kick a 70 yarder to beat UT in Knoxville. Therefore causing mass suicides.

Forgot how close that was.
That would be epic if we beat them on a 50+ yarder as time expired...

Foo any "exciting" wins by a long FG. We don't want any of that. A 59-3 curb-stomping of Tennessee will always be exciting enough.

Guys, you don't know how many times we went for it on 4th down last year when we would have kicked if our kicker wasn't more interested in hookers and blow.

Our ENTIRE offense in 2012 was "bring in two extra OLs as 'TEs'" and a great kicker.
