Thanks ancient . Always been a big fan of yours . You’re my 73rd favorite poster. May the almighty bless you and your family .Oh, BTW, I am not hammered. I am just old. With luck you will get there one day.
When I first watch the game, I watch for pleasure. I am re-watching the game now for content. It looks to me as if our 2RG (Lovett) was moved to tackle and someone named Mark Pitts is playing right guard. Is that how you saw it? Interestingly, Pitts is a RSJr who walked on at UF turning down SEC scholarships. He already has a M. S. in management. Think he will return for his senior season?Have you ever considered actually watching a game?
P. S. I mean, you are not just some shallow smart-ass who can make negative comments and ad hominem remarks with no actual knowledge, are you?
And may God bless you and yours. Merry Christmas! Thanks ancient . Always been a big fan of yours . You’re my 73rd favorite poster. May the almighty bless you and your family .
Ok, Then athletes should meet the same damn academic standards as the engineering student. This goes to my other post... "So, you mean like every other student at every university?"
That's gonna be (and already is) the legal test.
And why are different sports treated differently? A baseball player can be drafted and retain his eligibility, a football player or basketball player does not.I'll try to help Law's case here, cuz everything you said there is irrelevant (or will be deemed irrelevant by courts as this progresses)...
People only need to ask one question as a "test" for any proposed rule on student athletes: "Could you put this same rule/restriction on an engineering student who's on scholarship?"
Not to mention the whole Title 9 stuff, that's coming like a freight train. And why are different sports treated differently? A baseball player can be drafted and retain his eligibility, a football player or basketball player does not.
Youre at least top 25 for me.And may God bless you and yours. Merry Christmas!
Title 9 doesnt apply to anyone but the university itself. Not to mention the whole Title 9 stuff, that's coming like a freight train.
Awwww...Youre at least top 25 for me.
Awwww...
I don’t disagree with a lot of what you said. But is is because of “us fans of the university“ that these young players — most of whom will never play in the NFL — are now earning millions to play college ball. The average USFL and XFL team probably has a talent score that averages higher than your typical power 4 college team. But those professional players don’t earn squat solely because of lack of interest and poor ratings. I posit that it is only because “us fans of the university“ — who buy tickets, jerseys, and watch these players on tv — that these young men are now cashing in. “We the fans of the university” aren’t responsible for crap. It’s on the universities that failed to revenue share when they had the chance who are responsible for this crap. I buy tickets and/or donate the school. It’s not the responsibility of “us fans of the university” to foot the bill for fielding a team, or pony up the money to pay for a coach’s buyout for that matter. College football is now a semi-pro league. It’s time to dissociate the football teams from academics, treat these players asemployees and collectively bargain.'We the fans' means nothing because you probably don't contribute anything other than buying gear with the logo on it, or buy tickets to go see a game, hotels to stay at while at the game, food at restaraunts while in town for the game, concessions while at the game...and so on. Guess who doesn't ever see a dime of that money even though that is truly what you are spending that money to see? The university makes a killing from SEC contracts, TV contracts, all that gear your buying...and so on. The player gets nothing.
So maybe think a little bit about 'We the fans' bullchit because in reality, you, nor all of us, have never been a fan of the player, you've been a fan of the University. So dont act like the players owe you a thing because of 'fair'. It hasn't been fair for a century and now that you are getting a taste of the unfairness while the players are starting to get a taste of the fair, maybe you can get a little bit more perspective about real fairness.
I see what you did thereTitle 9 doesnt apply to anyone but the university itself.
The girls already blow more than the WNBA.
Texas does the same, passing on legacy admissions in state to accept out-of-staters for higher tuitions. Nephew raised in Texas, went to Texas and played for Mack Brown there. Did extremely well in the oil business, and big donor to Texas. His daughter was denied admission with very respectable grades, and ended up going to rival A&M. I asked nephew, has this affected your giving? “Oh , yes, absolutely.”My daughter was denied (nursing), despite graduating in the top five of a massive high school that consistently produces some of the best test scores in the state. It’s an academic powerhouse.
(A family friend has a daughter graduate from Manatee High School a few years ago. Valedictorian, and was denied at UF. Several kids below her in her own class are Manatee were accepted.)
There was affirmative action **** going on as well. Three kids of color that were FAR behind her academically got in. Crushed her. She plans on getting an ARNP at UF, so her Gainesville dreams aren’t over yet.
Was accepted in literally every other university she applied for.
Her brother is a baseball player in high school now. Has spoken to ACC and SEC schools, so it’s not out of the question that he gets an offer from UF. He isn’t anywhere remotely close to her as a student, but can sling that ball.
UF has definitely changed.

DING, DING, DING....winner. The school spends ungodly amounts on these "student athletes" that is does not on regular STUDENTS....probably up to several hundred thousand per football player in their time at UF or other schools......Sorry Deet, you've been eliminated on this basis....Ok, Then athletes should meet the same damn academic standards as the engineering student.
Why doesn't the typical engineering student get a scholly?
Does every other student get free room and board, healthcare, nutritional support, tutors, books, coached training to further a career?
Except that's not the way supply and demand works. Pay them small base salaries based on TENURE and PERFORMANCE....with the option to leave. It was never really that difficult to figure out.
Sure it does because they're also incentive based and have the right to leaveExcept that's not the way supply and demand works
Cool story. Offer a small base wage with bonuses. Your competition offers more. You lose.Sure it does because they're also incentive based and have the right to leave
Speaking of Bacon. There's a dog snack called Begging Bacon. I just saw a commercial for it ... basically the same as when it first came out in 1988. My little sister always cracked up when she saw it because she thought of me (Dad and I were in our 'rind on dry smoked (cherry) bacon' phase).CDGator said:Now I’m hungry. Dinner: Made some sous vide chicken breast, pulled it, added mayo, diced celery and onions, a little ground cumin, and put it on fresh sourdough bread with a slice of American cheese. Also had about 1/4 of the Halloween candy for dessert (s).CDGator said:
