Good point. What is the cutoff year to be considered an "old-timer"?
If you know what Wally Butts and Shug Jordan were feuding about, you're an old timer.

It's a sliding scale. If you're young enough, it's someone about 5 years (maybe 10) ahead of you in school. At my age, it's... well darn, what were we talking about again?.

My first game at Florida Field was sometime in October '77. We had a lot of away games to start the year, then my sport had some conflicts so I don't know if it was Pittsburg or Tennesssee. But I vaguely remember a tie game, so probably Pittsburg. Like the past few years, utterly forgettable with some flashes of individual brilliance, such as Wes Chandler.)

Florida Field - 10/7/78 vs LSU, our Little League baseball coach took us.
The Swamp - Not really sure, this was during my first marriage, which I've mostly blocked out of my mind. More than likely it would have been the '93 Tennessee game. One of my best friend's family had season tickets back then and I'd always request the UT game in years that it was home.

My first ever was a regular season game vs Clemson in Jacksonville in 1954... I was nine. Hooked ever since... First "Swamp" game was 1962 Georgia Tech, my freshman year.
(Jacksonville ,and later Tampa, used to buy the home games of away teams for many years. For you noobs.)

Saw UF versus Kentucky at the old Tampa Stadium in about 71 or 72 and it was technically a Kentucky home game as you described. Willie Jackson caught a long TD pass as I recall.

I remember going to a game in elementary school as my first, had to have been 80-82ish. I don't remember the opponent, but we sat in the North end zone. It was like a school trip, or at least everyone who went was from school.
I don't even remember the first one after 90, there have been many, almost all of which were viewed from the comfort of the upper south end zone.
First bowl game was the fog bowl.

Not sure how everyone remembers the exact year and apponent but I want to say 1986 was my first swamp visit. It wasnt until the late 90s that I started going to games on a regular basis.

1986 vs. Miami. I was 12. Sat in the north endzone and almost got hit in the face by a laser overthrow from Kerwin Bell. We lost, but I remember all the fans filing out of the stadium and chanting something about how "great it was to be a Florida Gator." Thought that was pretty cool.

Sweet, long-term memories are not that difficult for most folk.

one of most memorable, beating SoCal 1983 17-9...watching Joey Kent being slobber-knocked by L Wright. Wes juking the AU defender out of his jock on the way to a score...I am old and don't remember a lot of the great plays but Charlie Pell was one of my favorite coaches. His staff included folks like Mike Shannahan, Joe Kines, Galen Hall, Dwight Adams, Mike Heimendinger, Charlie Strong...that's all I remember.
Oh Yeah, watching E Smith make Bobby Humphries look like a middle schooler with hiis display in Birmingham...Quit smoking permanently the following Monday...

Oops, guess I was thinking of my first Gator game ever.
Would have been Mississppi State the following week then (I had to look that up).

Maybe San Jose State, 1991. I can't remember. I was definitely at 14-9 that year.

1979 FSU game. Top row of section 39, had a cousin who worked as a tutor in the athletic department at the time and got us freebies. 9 years old, remember hearing Jim Finch and being in awe. Remember how a controversial call on an onside kick late in the game pissed a whole lot of people off. Gators played hard that day, nearing the end of the 0-10-1 debacle. Hooked.

Couldn't tell you the exact game. My dad has all the tickets stubs from the games we went to so I could track it down. I was 2 years old. Early in the 1992 season. I probably whined about the heat the entire time.
