With Scotty at the point we would beat some of these teams easily and many more victories might have beaten KY as well.

Are you comparing a Sr. Scotty to a So. Hill and Fr. Chiozza? Or are you using a Fr. Scotty for the comparison?

I don't know when we've had to field a younger, less experienced back court. My fuzzy mind rolls back to the days of Dan Cross (as far back as I can remember who our PG was) and I can't recall ever struggling this badly, but then I can't recall forcing a Fr. and a somewhat experienced-from-last-year So. to carry the load without senior leadership in front of them. I remember Hill as being shaky last year in his part time fill in for Scotty, but wrote it off as being a Fr. and still getting his feet under him and learning to play at an SEC level. IMO, Hill didn't get all that much time, and Chiozza is certainly being counted on earlier in his career than most top programs would ask of a Fr.

2009-2010. Erving Walker was a Sophomore and Boynton was a freshman. Luckily those guys could make FTs.

Nope, ball has to hit the rim before you cross the line. Chamberlain tried that and they changed the rule.

I seem to remember Chamberlain dunking free throws a long time ago, but my memory is somewhat faulty. He was one of the worst in the NBA but made it up by rebounding and dunking. He once said he could take paper money off the top of the backboard, I bet he could.

Rick Barry shot 89.3% for his career and shot over 90% six times. And as far as I know, no one has used his shooting style since.

Wilt the stilt tried it with some improvement, but for him "some" was not that great.

Yes but no Hack a Wilt because that would have been very dangerous to the hacker.

Time to go all Rick Barry!

Certainly time to test it out. They've got the previous FT% to compete with.

Found this old article from Dec. 2013 talking about Canyon shooting underhand FTs - he was only 21-32 (65%) in his RFR year when the article came out. It was the 2013-14 season, but I couldn't find any other FT stats for the remainder of last season or this season. 65% would be above average for our team, but it's still not very good.

Just looked it up. He's a 70% FT shooter; not the greatest.
