Wasn't there a time when Hudson, Stone and Allen were GREAT shooters. It seems not that long ago and yet so far away.Like the Durty-blurty said, White's in over his head. His public comment was: "I've tried everything. Nothing works. I don't know what else to do."
There 350 basketball teams listed by the NCAA. Not a single one of them recruited players that don't know how to play. The head coach sculpts how effectively they play. The coaching corrects players' flaws, adds effective moves, pounds in the bball IQ about helping teammates in play, drawing from a teammate, etc. IDK, but there are coaches who do know how to bring out the best in their 'students' ... about 4-5 are doing just that in the SEC throughout 20 games so far.
This season is done .... err undone. Next year we'll be better by virtue of better "natural talents" {before White). Will we see full advancing skills, skills developed, taught? Or will White push the team concept that Payne's job is to get those rebounds (put-backs) from missed 3s? At the least, White needs better assistant coaches. preferably a big coach young enough to get on the practice-court and bang & block with those kids.
How aggressive can we be inside? Should we use getting increased fouls as a measure of better play? White should teach lightning-fast passing? Streaking-fast movement should be all that goes on in practice except for learning exceptions. How can White have read Coach John Wooden's book, then watched his Gators practiced, watched them play, all the while seeing no changes are needed?

For the Kentucky game, Mike White has a point about not hitting the jumpers:
And you know why we don’t hit our jumpers? Because they’re rarely open, contested shots (many times late in shot clock) due to the fact we don’t move on offense. He seemingly cannot get through to these guys, or he just doesn’t teach moving without the basketball.
