My take is that he injured his body, instead of resting or quitting he adapted doing more damage. Now the damage is so severe and he still won't get healthy that he will never be the golfer he was in the past. I doubt that he will even be a very good golfer again, his body won't allow it.

I don't follow golf, don't appreciate individuals with morals such as he has shown.
