"As a side" is most definitely not used by anyone except you as meaning "as a side note". When people want to say "as a side note" they actually say "as a side note". When saying "as a side" are you talking about a side of beef or maybe onion rings?

And again, you are completely wrong about the usage of "as an aside".

"You say "as an aside" when you are talking about one thing and you want to talk about something else then come back to the first thing."
Example: "As an aside: Is anyone hungry?"
You want to keep talking about the first thing after you say something else briefly, when you say "as an aside".
Example: "As an aside, do you come to this place often?"
Saying as an aside is sometimes used as a polite way to change the topic and talk about something else.
Example: "Then he says to me, as an aside, let's get out of this place."

So again, let's review. You use an improper phrase in which you no doubt mixed two separate yet similar phrases and came out with one improper one. Whereas the use of "as an aside" is shown to be both proper and correct.

But here's the proof. I dare you to use "as a side" in any of your professional correspondence. In fact, I'm begging you.

To everyone else I apologize for this rather inane argument. The only saving grace is that it occurred in an Alvin thread.

This hastily researched "source" really does nothing to back up anything you were originally trying to grammar police me for. Your best rebuttal is that when "people" want to say as a side note, they add the "note?"

Dude, seriously, what is it with you and hard ons? I mean, this has to be like your 6th or 7th hard on post.

I can't even get fired up for the UT game anymore. It's just like playing Kentucky.
Kintucky has a good defense and a QB this year.

I won't be surprised to see them beat Tinerc again.

I blame Obama. Since he came into office Woods game has collapsed.
Clinton was free because Hillary was busy. Much tougher sledding with that much competition for picking up waitresses at IHOP.

Why do you say that? Do you think Obama has been golfing so much, Tiger can't get on the course to practice enough?

I thought I was the only one thinking Kentucky looks better than Tennessee this year.

That's going to be a tough game for us on the road.

Alex.

I just opened this thread for the first time. Wish I hadn't. The grammar battle may be the worst argument in the history of message boards.
