The $32 million buyout and Stricklin being the athletic director are the 2 biggest impediments that are keeping Napier from getting fired today. Unfortunately, Florida doesn't have a gaggle of high money boosters waiting in the wings that are itching to pay Napier gobs of money to hit the road. So, I highly doubt Napier is going to be (deservedly) fired today. But that doesn't mean that Stricklin shouldn't be shown the door the day after the early signing period is over. Until Stricklin is canned, I won't have any confidence that the university cares about anything than its rankings in academics.
Apologies, I meant to include in my post that StrickNine needs to be let go immediately for hiring Napier and giving him a fully guaranteed contract... StrickNine needs to be escorted to the door today after 3 losing seasons in a row by his hand-picked football coaches.

By the way, I predicted 5 wins to my buddy and fellow Gator Grad. He thought I was nuts, and quoted Shane Matthews claiming 9 wins along with the "fact" that Napier hand-picked the 53 new members of the team after chasing off other members of the team... I am very concerned with this staff and have ZERO faith they know who to recruit and build a winning team. They certainly are not developing the players...

Fellas, Stricklin and/or Napier aren't getting fired. You need to let that settle in and quit hoping for it.

Hope is a dangerous thing. It can drive a man insane. It's got no place in the Gator Nation, you'd better get used to that idea.

Nobody knew jack shyt about Norve!! when his name surfaced over the Butters opening after Kelly and then Frost dropped out. You had people here speculating the fact that he wasn't getting traction had to be due to an NCAA probe of Memphis.

I think it was speculation more along the lines that Novell personally had some past baggage related to gambling, not so much a Memphis program issue.

My opinion on changing coaches is it's too risky to go back to the same well. We're already playing an enormous game of catch-up and can ill afford another experiment. If you're going to dole out $10 million, do it for someone you KNOW will make a positive difference from day one even if it's for three or four seasons. We have to stop the bleeding.

There is exactly one candidate who fits that description and I think he would accept.

It's not about the 5-7 record, it really isn't. I think if the future looked bright, if we thought we were really close, we'd feel a little more optimistic. It just appears we have a staff that can't actually coach, so it won't matter how much talent we have.

If Billy had UGA's roster this season, how many games would we have won? He wouldn't be 12-0, I think we can all agree on that.
I told you all of this over a year ago and you insulted me.

This pissed me off royally. I understand emotion, but I feel like this is the overall coach / player dynamic and is a good part of why we stink the place up week in and week out.
At least somebody was showing some fire.

I also didn't realize you can pick up someone, take a step, and then deliberately body slam a player.

I forgot to add dry humping the kid then trying g to drag his nuts across his face.

May I inquire as to what these past contributions were, other than to get us to the place the program is now? I am looking at my list. Zook. Musscrat. Butters. Mike White. A downright refusal to upgrade any facility regarding football during his entire tenure. His complete disdain for trying to raise donor money when the football team was playing for trophies and often bring them home? And by the way, the basketball team happen to be winning at the same time, just to give us something to watch in the offseason. Billy? Check. He got that one. Oh I will will give him Sully and some other non revenue olympic sports that no one cares about. Everything else Fooley did during his tenure completely polluted the program, the building and the entire campus! Keeping the wheels of the train that pays the entire freight well greased will also keep those other programs moving along. Prioritizing those non revenue sports gets you.......................well where we are now.:flush:
In addition to Sully and the non-rev sports, I give Foley credit for hiring Billy Donovan. I care about all Gator athletics. Anything wrong with that? Hell, we could field a pickleball team and beat euthanize the dawgs, I would celebrate my @ss off. And fck the dawgs, hillbillies and all of tallacrappy.

Anyway, football is and always will be king! Go Gators!!

Yeah, he’s young and talented, but things like that happen when you’re light in the @ss and your freshman year has more losses than wins. These kids aren’t being taught the intangibles that are a part of being a winning program because they are being taught by coaches that apparently don’t really know how themselves.

I mean did you see Lyons spit on a clown player, draw a crucial 15 yard penalty and get ejected, walk over to the sidelines and have Napier whisper gently in his ear? I imagine it went something like this:

“While our coaches evaluate what you just did, you gotta know that’s not a part of the process, ya know? You gotta evaluate your emotions in the moment and go through the process of making a wise decision with high character, ya know? I’m not mad at you, just disappointed, but a lot of good will come out of this. Now go stand over in the corner with Coach Couch.”
