While a few might recognize a record, they’ll never know the joy of mom letting you pick a cereal because of the record you could cut from the box

Good one. It was a step up from Sears. It had a conveyer belt where your order would come out of the back and you could collect it. Fancy.

Wow good one. Even when Service Merchandise was mentioned (which was excellent)... it still didnt jog the memory of that belt.

Circuit City kinda did the same thing where you had to wait in the pickup area to finally get your item.

S&H Green stamp stores had a waiting area to receive your selections.

  • ABC's After School Specials or that NBC one based on Michael Landon about the kid that ran home because he was still a bedwetter and his parents would hang the sheets out to shame him (looked it up, The Loneliest Runner)
  • In Detroit, the local ABC affiliate had weekday afternoon movies after school where they would do things like "Godzilla movies all week" or "War Week" with old war movies. Due to time slot, they would actually break up a long war movie like "The Longest Day" into two days.
  • Made for TV movies (I think ABC had something like "Friday Night at the Movies) with movies like "Smash-up on Interstate 5" with Robert Conrad, and "It Happened at Lakewood Manor (aka Ants!)" where they built the fancy resort on top of deadly ants, and "Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo" where the plane smuggling coffee beans was full of tarantulas, and "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble"
