Looking at the UF running game this year you wanna commit there if u are a stud prospect? They dont take into consideration that the OL was a lot of first timers. It's a "me" now generation thanks to obama.

It's just the yearly,...I'm going to pin my hopes and dreams on a bunch of teenagers, time of year. Passionate and a bit disappointed, I get,... angry, I don't.

I was just saying the other day that this staff had done a good job of not allowing us to get burned on NSD. I guess there's no way to stop a kid from technically having us as a contender, but on the list above, we were only truly in the running for 4. It looks like we got turned down by a dozen kids, when at least 3 of them didn't even have a LOI per multiple sites. It wasn't a great day. But that list makes it seem a lot worse than it was.

Yep. Moorhead likes signing grown folks:

          Benjamin Key

3-star defensive end from East Los Angeles College

Other offers: Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, San Jose State, Syracuse, Utah

Why he signed with State: "All I wanted was a chance to play football at the next level and to be in a program where I would be better developed both as a person and player."

          Jordan Davis
          6-foot-5, 249 pounds

4-star defensive end from Copiah-Lincoln Community College. No. 1 JUCO defensive end in the country

JUCO stats: 17 games played; 81.0 total tackles; 5.5 sacks; 8.5 tackles for loss; 3 forced fumbles

Other offers: Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon

          Brandon Ruiz

Ruiz, a native of Gilbert, Arizona, is being brought on by the Bulldogs to become a kickoff specialist.

          Malik Heath
          6-foot-3, 210 pounds

4-star wide receiver from Copiah-Lincoln Community College; No. 2 JUCO wide receiver in the country

JUCO stats: 17 games played; 61 receptions; 835 yards; 13.7 yards per reception; 7 touchdowns

Other offers: Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Washington State

          Tre Lawson
          6-foot-6, 240 pounds

Spent a season at Florida State in 2017; Won JUCO national championship at Gulf Coast this past season

          Other offers: South Alabama, Arkansas

          Tyrus Wheat
          6-foot-2, 245 pounds

3-star linebacker from Copiah-Lincoln Community College; No. 1 JUCO ILB in the country

Career JUCO stats: 19 games played; 104 total tackles; 8.0 tackles for loss; 2 forced fumbles; 3 fumble recoveries; 5 interceptions

Other offers: Baylor, Arkansas, Kentucky, South Carolina, Auburn, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Utah

          Caleb Ducking
          6-foot-5, 195 pounds

3-star wide receiver from Holmes Community College; No. 8 JUCO wide receiver in the country

Why he signed with State: "I'm signing with MSU because they had faith in me when no other schools did. They took a chance on me coming out of a majority run-based offense. And they instantly treated me like family the moment I first stepped on campus. I’m very excited for my future in maroon and white because I know I’ll be around a family based environment and I know I’ll get the right education."

Sorry, I had said seven JuCo guys before, but unless I missed somebody it is six JuCo's and one graduate transfer.

Seeing all of these Florida kids sign with other schools is very disappointing and frustrating!

But that's all he can do. He hasn't proven he can develop anyone. He should have been fired. Grabbing a bunch of jucos screams I cant recruit nor develop. Who would want to go there from high school? I've always thought if u are hitting jucos and portal u are grasping at straws. This proves it with this guy.

It’s not like our best lineman was a grad transfer from another school. Jeez

One guy on defense, 2 on offense. Hardly makes a roster. No problem with the portal or jucos but dont base your entire recruiting class on it. Jeez.

As I've posted before. In the last 60 years, Cowbell has had one coach with a winning record. That is Dan Mullen. There's a reason no one wins at that school.

Man, I've read thru all 29 pages of this thread and boy do we have some passionate Gators in here. I find it odd however, that everyone gets upset by what was expected. We were never going to flip all of these guys. You guys are well aware of the shortcomings of this staff. So why did you expect differently? If I have a dog, then wake up in the morning and that dog isn't a cat, who's the crazy one in this equation?

I'm not gonna get bent outta shape about recruiting. It is what it is. It'd be insanity on my behalf to expect anything different. And my expectations are always for the guys that publicly commit. All the other guys are just icing on the cake.

Today was very uneventful, but I like the class we have. And unlike most around here, I believe we can compete for championships as is. Some just like to complain and will have you believe we need to be top 3 to compete. That's BS! Look no further than LSU this year. Their kicking a$$ with the talent they have. Recruiting is important but it isn't everything.

Last point: We should keep a running tab on all those who keep bashing Mullen. Makes me think some of you don't really know as much about football as you're perpetrating. Coach Mullen WILL win a national championship here. He's a damn good coach and he recruits well enough to pull it off. We may never become the championship factory that Bama is, but he'll win one. SOS only won one here but nobody complained. Now we're all over Mullen for having similar results. I'm riding with Mullen. Screw you internet talking heads with no perspective about anything. You just get emotional and rant. The guy's doing a hell of a job.

We signed 4 DTs. How many are we losing to graduation or NFL?

I feel like I have a pretty good memory, and remember about as far back as the '86 season. But the period that stands out the most is the 90s. So assuming these kids are comparable, that puts them back about 12 years or so at this point, to around 2007, meaning that they may have faint memories of Tebow's Heisman, the 2008 NC, etc. But what they clearly remember is the last decade of UF being horrible and places like Alabama and others doing considerably better. So we're up against it before we even begin recruiting them. I'd venture to say the average 2022-23 signee has teams like Alabama and Clemson as their dream destination, regardless of whether or not they’re from Florida.

Now that’s not an excuse for Mullen. It’s actually all the more reason he needed a great recruiting staff to change that perception quickly. Instead he chose to try and chip away at it over time and with performance in the field. We’ll see if he runs out of time. But it’s not surprising that Fl kids are going elsewhere. Fan hood and likes/dislikes are often established in the preteen years, and that’s not a good period for UF.
