Listened to that this morning. Will Miles mentioned that he doesn’t actually want f$u to be terrible because some of our greatest Gator moments/memories came when beating great nole teams.
Which got me thinking about my top f$u memories.
1. 1996 NC game. When all the marbles were on the table, we took them 52-20.
2. 1997 Quezzie/Noah/Doug/Fred crazy ending to beat the #1 noles for the second time in a calendar year.
3. 1991 slobber-knocker win. Loudest game start to finish I’ve ever seen. Every play was full throated screaming by everyone. Casey Weldon spent the day with Darren Mickell on just back. (Before the game Mickell came out for senior day with no one to greet him but his position coach.) Thrilling end as Crier Frier was cut down before he could catch a tipped ball.
4. 1981 - 35-3 broke their winning streak and started ours. Peace Corps wins the state, leaving scUM with a 49-state championship.
5. 1985 - I got to work the sidelines as a sound man for a friend who was a camera man for a WPB tv station. But he had no sound equipment so I just watched the game from the field. Almost got run over, got a hug from Alonzo Johnson after the game.
