Midwest, that story is true. Here's another true story connected to Sally.
I was standing with her Dad in the back yard as steaks sizzled on the grill.
He points to the close privacy fence and says: " See that house right there ?
Little girl that recently moved was Sally's good friend. Sally had many sleep-overs
there. Well her Dad was caught flying his plane, lights off, over the Okeefenokee
Swamp. Somehow they forced him to land. When they searched his plane, thinking
on finding drugs, they opened a huge toolbox and found the cut up body of his wife."
Right there, I got chills thinking of innocent little 10 y.o. Sally mingling that close to
a killer.

Let's hear it for Floridian and former Gator Rowdy Gaines as well. That guy knows how to hype and call a race!
Katie Ledecky is incredible.

I never doubt what Rog says is true. Hard to read sometimes! But never doubt whether it's true. He is a wise and well-traveled old man.

Sometimes I don't know if Rog is telling the truth or if he's just an incredible story teller. Or maybe both?

Regardless, gymnastics is a nasty injury plagued sport. My wife is a former gymnast and now coaches preschool age girls. My 5 year old is one of them. I really hope she isn't one of the injury plagued gymnasts.

Bela and Marta Karolyi came to the USA from Romania. They built a gymnastics powerhouse in Romania and now did so in the USA. Interesting to note, Rhonda Faehn was coached by the Karolyi when she was younger. I suppose her decision to leave UF was influenced by her relationship with them.
Isn't this the last year for Karolyi to coach the team? I think they said she's retiring. What shot does Rhonda have at taking over?

This was her last Olympics at the least is what was reported, it was one of the reasons the girls said their name was the "final five". Along with this being the last Olympics allowing five girl teams.

Marta is done. I am also wondering if Rhonda will take over. Right now she basically oversees the entire women's elite gymnastics program. She's been at Marta's side this whole time. Rhonda will be in the discussion, but so will Valeri Liukin, who's daughter Nastia won the all round gold in 2008.

Nastia was on the Today show this morning talking about tonight's event. When asked who would take over, she smiled and smirked and avoided the question. It was then she may already know.

I heard the U.S. overlords feared that Rhonda would set the bar too high...
... for the little girls to reach it? ...

So a I watched some handball today - cross between soccer and basketball played with a ball the size of a toddler's basketball - it was odd.
Then there was 2-man mini badminton - more oddity.
I guess tonight is individual events for those poor little gymnast girls.

When's track and field starting? I like the hot women athletes with tight clothes as well as actually being able to see each racer's entire body (unlike swimming) . . .

You know there's porn on the internet, right? And there's this invention called YouTube where you can look at old videos of women running track and field?

Track ?? The asphalt-composite hasn't set up yet ... it's still too molten for runners
and in the original oval, the starting end didn't align-match with the finishing end ...
... so the competitors would wind up finishing somewhere in the woods ?? of course,
with that tree branch down and that mud-hole, they could have the steeplechase stuff
in there.
