There was a third person, a man, who supposedly saw the event, and was interviewed by the prosecution. He wasn't at the trial, though. It also didn't help the prosecution's case to have one of their own witnesses say that he did not think the victim had been hit by anyone due to the very minor injury. It was also stated that the accuser was cajoled into pressing charges by friends. She also picked out Cook with the help of her father. It is possible that she fell down and was then told by her friends that she could "get paid" if she said that someone who is probably going to become a millionaire hit her. That's only speculation. The fact is that Cook will be playing in Gainesville this year, if healthy, and stopping him on the field is the only thing possible to do.

It's a long time between now and then. I'm sure he'll punch, rape or murder someone before then.

Or maybe he would do all 3 to the same person? No one in particular, you know, just some Joe.

Trust me he will do something worse. In his mind he
beat the system. After that happens, they progress to
a more heinous crime. He probably has a long record
that will come out eventually. If they allow him back on
the team, and they will, they will live to regret it. Ask
any judge you know. He will tell you the same thing.
The investigative reporters will have permanent residence
in TallyCrappy until this stuff ends. They will probably
furnish his rap sheet shortly. I am betting Cook won't
be on the team at the end of the season. He won't play
against us.

Look for reports from ESPN and others in the near future.
They live for something like this. You are about to find out
all the crimes he has committed.

Well, I see that we have a lot of "experts" including one who predicts Cook won't be on the field in Gainesville. Here's something that is actually real that you can pick on Cook for. After his acquittal he said: "I know I did not do no crime or did no wrong," That's not very good grammar, so those of you who are members of the grammar police, here's your opening to make an arrest. Madison Geohegan, the alleged victim/accuser, wanted to drop charges after seeing Cook out several nights after the original incident but was encouraged by others to proceed with the charge, she said. By the way, the accuser already had a civil attorney, so this accusation was probably about "gettin' paid" as I suspected.

I have no idea if he did it or not... I do think somebody hit her, but I don't see how you convict him with the evidence that the state provided. It was basically a he said/she said and his side all said they didn't drink (who knows) and that he didn't do it. Her friend as a witness said she was drunk and she said she had been drinking. I don't know how much that should matter, but I don't see how anything was provied beyond a reasonable doubt.

I try to be fair minded with this type of stuff and based on what was presented in court there was no way to convict.

I also recognize it is entirely possible and probable that his friends are all lying and he got away with punching her in the face.

If that is the case.. he may think he can get away with anything and screw up again. Time will tell.

"He said, she said" cases are always tough. I would hate to be convicted of something simply because someone said I did it. So this verdict in no way surprised me from what little I had read about it. But having other fsu football players testify is like having a spouse as a witness. No credibility at all. And the jury? Unbelievable. It should be apparent from this "trial" (and I use the word loosely) that the inmates indeed do run the asylum in Tallahassee/Leon and that fsu football players are given a green light to run amok. I wonder how many people in the State Attorney's office there have season tickets.

Dalvin Cook should have never been charged in the first place. It is an amazing story of malfeasance and I would not be surprised to see some type of sanction meted out to the prosecutor. They actually tried to slip the daughter of Willie Meggs, the state attorney, on to the jury. The third person who supposedly saw the incident and was not called by the state turns out to be a homeless man who was arrested three days before the trial. That explains why he wasn't there. The prosecutor calls FSU football players as witnesses for the state? The accuser claims she was punched in the face, by a 200 lb plus athlete, several times and her injuries are a slightly cut lip? The state tries to introduce a fake Twitter account as evidence. The prosecutor mentions a "tape" in front of the jury, obviously in the hope that they will think of the case of another player and hope they will not know they are not the same.
As one juror said, I don't understand why Cook was charged in the first place. As the Miami attorney who represented Cook said, you can't make this stuff up.Cook's attorney is filing a complaint with the Florida Bar over prosecutorial misconduct. How this case was ever brought to trial is a sign of extreme incompetence, or worse, by the state attorney's office. You bring two women who admit they were drunk, and one of them even admits to being the aggressor and hitting one of the football players, and also says the guy who supposedly punched her several times was "nice" to her and she asked him to escort her to her car, and you think you have a case that doesn't have reasonable doubt? If it didn't actually happen, you'd think no prosecutor could be so stupid.
