Brown recluse? We’ve had a company treating the barn and we’ve noticed that we don’t see nearly as many as last year. This one surprised me in my gardening basket.

Nice combination together. I bet the smell is great! At least better than BNA after a night out with his merry band of brothers

Never seen it before but I like it. Unfortunately it’s not cold hardy enough for us.

I’m sure. Even here, coming from down south, the first few winters of my gardening looked more like a general sending guys to take a Japanese position. I wasted a fortune before conceding and planting what might actually make it. And even still I had to replace all but those sage plants, the roses and one gardenia this spring. Terrible combination of awful heat but still some cold. I’m guessing you can keep tulips there?

Have you tried knockout roses?

Tulips and daffodils are some of the early bloomers here. Tulips only last about a minute though. We have a huge row of daffodils but easily killed off 1000 bulbs when we rebuilt the house.

Starting to plant more phlox as ground cover where we’ve had a washout. It’s working well and has great spring flowers. 8CEB4107-44FF-4B14-B3F3-583C795C6AE0.jpeg

@CDGator

Looks great.

And yes, on the knockout roses. I have quite a few of those(first pics). I actually like my drift roses better. They seem to be the lowest maintenance and look the best most of the time.

Got most of the garden planted today.

squash
Zucchini
San Marzano tomatoes
Jalapeños
Peppers
Okra
Sugar snap peas
Snow peas
3 kinds of beans
3 rows of Yukon and red potatoes

I’ll need to plant some more tomatoes and flowers this weekend.

Got my tomato plants going a couple of weeks ago. Got eight buckets set up with 6 varieties…

Available plants around these parts was a little spotty this year. Guessing due to labor or transport shortages or some other Democratic nonsense. Best of the plants are the Husky Cherry Red salad variety…

All were planted in a mix of potting/garden soil, cow manure, and mulch. Just about time for a second fertilize with calcium/phosphorus. They were just dusted with Sevin as we are into the bug season.

Nice!
That soil looks tremendous. Have you ever tried diatomaceous earth instead of sevin? I’ll use sevin on the rose bushes and anything non-food related but DE seems to work well for us on the veggies.

I’m ashamed to say I’m not familiar with it. Is that the trade name? Always looking for something new and better to try where pests are concerned.
