I think we have a decent year, but it wouldnt make me feel that CBN isnt the answer if we struggled. Again, I harken back to the bama transition year under Saban. Its not as if they didnt have good players, they did. Shula recruited well and they had a few decent seasons under him including a 10 win one the year before he was canned. Most of the kids that contributed significant minutes in Saban's 2nd year where they won the west and went undefeated regular season were on the roster when he showed up. However, Saban still lost 6 games including a home loss to a Louisiana team (either ULM or ULL?) his first year.
This is a major, MAJOR culture and program change, possibly bigger than anything ever, even what Spurrier did b/c the team was pretty stacked and doing decently but on probation when he showed up. What Napier walked in on and is attempting to do is about as close to a full blown resurrection as you will see outside of an Easter Sunday. For that reason the W/L record in year 1 isnt that important to me. The crootin, cultural transition, discipline and accountability, and commitment from the staff and the players is the most important thing IMO. If he gets everyone all in on all of that, the wins will come and they will be prevalent.
