That is simply NOT true. Smith has barely been on the Heisman radar until the last couple of games. Sure, a lot of Bama homers have dreamed about it all year long but he hasn't even gotten a sniff until recently. And regardless of Waddle or Jones or even the best OLine in college football, if he puts up the performance worthy of the award, he should get it. It isn't for me to say but I personally feel he is the most deserving. In the end, it won't matter who you or I think is the most deserving, it will come down to the voters. Unless you have a Heisman vote that is... ;)I didn’t say any other receiver, I said one of many.
You listed a bunch of stats that He collected mostly after Waddle was injured that only supports what I said such as most receiving yards due to long bombs where he was wide open.
Who said anything about screen passes other than you?
Who said anything about anyone throwing in the towel?
Smith’s success is just another example of what a team looks like when you have the best players in the game.
As you said, no matter who gets hurt it IS next man up at Bama and Devonte Smith immediately went from the #2 receiver for Bama to the Heisman leader
