I'm not even sure you guys are talking about the same thing.

There are two separate reasons he has to sit out.
He won't be appealing his suspension. WVU will be appealing the waiting period on his behalf.

Are we all on the same page with that?

WVU/Grier/etc - someone will be appealing again. It says right there that they are working towards having him eligible for the opener in 2017. Not sure how anyone cannot understand wtf that means. His circumstances have changed. I hope he has to sit the extra games though.

That's an interesting take on it... On what grounds would he appeal the waiting period?

They are basically appealing the decision that the NCAA gave UF that said he will have to sit out a full year and they wont reduce the penalty to 1/2 year. If for some reason... the NCAA were to change its mind (I highly doubt that) then Grier would be eligible at the beginning of the 2017 season because. He would have paid his penalty for PEDs with the 6 games at UF and then sat out a year for transfer.

I would be highly surprised if the NCAA did this. They would basically be saying... if you take PEDs and transfer we will reduce your penalty, but if you stay at the same school we won't... it makes no sense (not that the NCAA is known for making sense).

I will laugh if (most likely when) the NCAA denies his appeal, and then when he is eligible loses the starting job to someone else. Unlikely but very amusing if it happens.

Or they could uphold. NCAA really likes to stick it to UF.

Well, if he is lucky, he plays all of 2017. WVU opens with VT at Landover, Md. They also have road games that season at Baylor, Oklahoma, and TCU. Of course, they could run Holgerson's ass off next year as well. Wonder if his drug buddy Hardin will follow?

West Virgina?

Nice. Maybe he will get another chance to win an NIT championship for them.

NCAA hates us. I wouldn't be suprised if they made him eligible immediately.

I wouldn't be shocked at all by that. Wonder if Daddy Chad has been asking where he can go to school to get that very thing done.

I can't see a single scenario in which the NCAA would decrease his sitting-out time. Based on what? If they did, it would be absolutely outrageous.
