Looks like Cook sh*t the bed at the combine

A lot of scouts and coaches in the NFL swear by SPARQ results to determine if a player will succeed in the NFL.

SPARQ stands for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness. It's a scoring system that is designed to measure sport-specific athleticism.

Tennessee's Alvin Kamara had the highest SPARQ score of any RB at the combine scoring at the 79th percentile. Dalvin Cook was at the other end of the spectrum testing in the 9th percentile. Cook really struggled in the three-cone drill (7.27), 20-yard shuttle (4.53), vertical (30.5"), and broad jump (9'8"). However, he did run a solid 40 time of 4.49.

Those results seem to support the theory that if Cook can get around the edge or find a hole he is hard to catch, but he is not very agile and doesn't cut well.

No RB that has tested under the 10th percentile has ever been drafted in the first round. As a benchmark, Adrian Peterson's SPARQ score was 131.1 80.9%.

(The ranking takes into account the z-score)
1 Alvin Kamara Tennessee 131.4 79.2%
2 Aaron Jones UTEP 129.7 75.0%
3 Christopher Carson Oklahoma State 128.9 73.0%
4 Christian McCaffrey Stanford 128.1 70.7%
5 Marlon Mack South Florida 125.2 62.2%
6 Jeremy McNichols Boise State 124.9 61.4%
7 Joe Williams Utah 121.9 51.9%
8 Brian Hill Wyoming 121.8 51.7%
9 DeAngelo Henderson Coastal Carolina 120.6 47.9%
10 Stanley Williams Kentucky 120.0 45.8%
11 Dare Ogunbowale Wisconsin113.8 27.4%
12 Samaje Perine RB Oklahoma 112.8 24.6%
13 Elijah McGuire RB20 RB Louisiana-Lafayette 112.6 24.1%
14 Wayne Gallman Clemson 109.0 16.2%
15 Sam Rogers Virginia Tech 95.7 14.8%
16 Dalvin Cook Florida State 104.6 9.0%
17 Jamaal Williams RB31 RB BYU 103.8 7.9%
18 Freddie Stevenson RB29 FB Florida State 88.7 5.9%
19 Devine Redding RB25 RB Indiana 94.5 1.5%

So are all the mock drafts wrong about Cook then and he won't get taken in first rd? I do think Kamara will do good as well in the league, was really impressed with him last year. Yeah everybody that's another rival player that I was impressed with and thought was a good college player and think it will translate to the NFL. Let them meltdown begin.

There are now a lot of "experts" that think Cook could fall out of the first round. The newest mock drafts have him going at the bottom of the first round.

Kamara never had 20 carries in a single game in his career at Tennessee. He never surpassed 700 rushing yards in a single season. In addition, he had off the field issues that led to him leaving Alabama and attending community college. He has also had knee injuries. It also hurts him that he only played in 24 career games in college.

It looks like he will probably go in the 4th round.

I honestly don't think he will pan out in the NFL. That's just my opinion.

Still be worth the gamble in the 4th rd, I would think.

No way Cook gets past the Bucs at 19.

It is what it is at this point.

Probably from a weekend Rapeholic's Anonymous meeting.[/QUOTE]

Cops arrested an FSU RS Freshman at that meeting.
They ID'd him from the composite drawing of the ski-mask he wore to the meeting.

He was great at the college level. I think that had FSU fed him the ball more at the end of the game, they very well might have beaten Clemson. Instead, they kept getting sacked.

The gaps & pursuit in the NFL are so much tighter he likely won't have the creases to make those explosive runs that defined his college career. Few do.

Careful there with your praise of a rival player, you'll be branded a closet Nole by some of the small minded " gator fans" on this board.

I'd be shocked if Cook goes in the first round. RB's are a dime a dozen, and his combine was a dumpster fire. The Bucs would be absolutely retarded to take him at 19, but they did waste their pick on the embarrassing scumbag Winston.

We got guys spending more time debating a Nole than talking about our bball team. Y'all disgust me.

No Nole here. The real real problem here is if I was a " disguised " Gator. It took the " geniuses " on this board 4 months to figure it out. When it should only take any " true Gator fan" less than a week to. This board I like better than the other Gator boards I've been on, OX let's a lot more go and doesn't ban people quiet as fast. But the same applies here as on other boards. There is a core group of tenured members that control the conversation and if you dare go against the grain, your pounced on. I can take it though. I'm a lot tougher than a bunch of these white collar pansies.

I can take it. Can you? I'm guessing probably not and I'll be banned. Just to soothe your ego.
No, I'll admit I was wrong. Running backs rarely go in the first round anymore, and those that do are exceptional athletes. Cook just proved he isn't one.

I expect Tabor and Cook to perform much better at their respective pro-days.

Calling someone a Nole is a pretty ugly thing to do though.

Mark my words, I will eat humble pie if I'm wrong on Cook, won't be the first time I've had to eat it.

Seems to be the go to line on here when you've been bested in an argument.

Calm down, raid. Ox is pretty good about allowing different points of view here. Just don't lie about your allegiance.

I've been truthful from day one about my allegiance to the Gators. What do some of you people think, that I'm a spy and I'm gonna learn some top secret inside info on this chat and go share it with the enemy. God it is hilarious how serious some of y'all take yourselves. Dude your just an insignificant Gator fan ( I think) like me. Nothing more. Accept it.

I believe you're a Gator, raid. You've given me no reason to believe otherwise.
