Nabe Palmer was the worst point guard I've ever seen don the orange and blue. Couldn't handle the ball, couldn't shoot, couldn't defend.

Jason Williams, all 20 games of him, was the best Gator I've ever seen at point guard or any other position. The guy was magical.

Seriously? Roberson AND that quitter Calathes over a truly great Gator in Justin Hamilton.

Even Brett Nelson is getting slighted by including those two. Nelson beats Roberson on nearly every key career metric (assts, asst/game, steals, steals/game, 3ptrs, 3pt%).

Again, Calathes quit.

I watched both Nelson and Roberson. I'd take Roberson every time. The guy could light it up. I remember Hamilton, but I don't consider him among the best at UF. His on the ball defense was.

My point is Roberson isnt top 5. Neither is Nelson. That Nelson is nevertheless better in all phases statistically is telling.

Hamilton wasn’t just a great on ball defender, he was so long and athletic that he made our hectic pace full court trapping press dominating. That team just wore people out and Hamilton on the press was central.

Hamilton was serviceable at the point. Williams was a once-in-a-generation talent.

All phases? :lmao2:

Nelson didn't have anywhere near Roberson's scoring ability. Roberson was good for 3 years. Nelson was good for 2. As far their assists, they were two entirely different point guards.

1. Green (led the team to two NC's)
2. Scottie W - if he doesn't' get hurt (and I maintain he was hurt) I think we get number 3
3. White Chocolate - yeah he wasn't around for long, but the guy was incredible
4. Dan Cross - kid could play
5. Cheeeeezzzee - you can see the difference when he is not on the court.

Honorable Mention - Justin Hamilton, Anthony Roberson, Nick Calathes, Eddie "one eye" Shannon

Worst - Dan Williams

Ronnie Montgomery and Andrew Moten were two of the first Gator PG's that I remember as a teenager, when UF - finally (in my early lifetime) - had a good basketball team. Those two, along and Maxwell were fun to watch.
I played pick up ball with Moten and Montgomery at Ft Clark one day. Moten would take 2-3 steps inside half court and bomb. I bet he hit about 75% of them. 2nd team All SEC three years in a row, he's gotta be up there.

1. Wilbekin
2. Green
3. Hamilton
4. Cross
5. Moten

I don't know how anyone in their right mind can put Chris Chiozza in any Top 5. It's mind boggling.

Scottie was injured his last year and battled cramps the final 15 games or so from playing so much.

Seems to me that Teddy Dupay isn't getting much love. That guy was money.

Everyone likes Cheese, but outside of the tail end of last year last year and obviously a very good year this year, he's been fairly average and inconsistent in his career. The Wisky shot is one of top 5 moments in Gator history, he definitely makes that list.

He averaged in double figures every year he was at Florida. That alone deserves an honorable mention over Chiozza who has done it only once.
Erving walker and Kasey Hill were the most frustrating point guards(that have played any length of time) I've seen here. Erving would drive and get caught up in the trees throw the ball all over the place. Jack up terrible shots and he was the biggest liability om defense I'd ever seen. I don't care how many points he averaged, I'll never understand Billy's infatuation with him. Hell, I'd take Kasey Hill over irving walker.

Because the all time assist leader deserves a spot on the all time list.

Roberson played more like a 2 guard, so I’d hope he’d score more. As for team leadership, and yes teammates matter, but here are their NCAA records:
Hamilton - 7-4
Nelson - 7-4 (same period as Hamilton)
Dupay - 9-3
Wilbekin - 17-4 (wow)
Roberson - 2-3

YES Erving Walker was very frustrating at times BUT he helped lead UF to TWO ELITE 8s and he had some great NCAA Tourney games too. He scored 10 of the final 12 Gator points to SEAL the win vs UCLA. His 3 pointer and driving layup and 1 were HUGE that game. He also hit 4 fts to seal it at the very end. He had 21 points total that game. Against BYU and Jimmer, Erving had 16 points, 6 reb, and 5 assists.
