From all the comments, I can't figure out if this is good or bad. I'm wondering about the turnout...how many fans showed up today?

Looking at the TV...

West stands looked full but obviously not “packed” like an LSU game.

East stands were 2/3rds full or so.

North was pretty full in the lower section, “sunshine seats” where you get a complimentary blinding were empty, not likely open.

South had a good crowd low. Not sure how far up it went.

So I’d say it was in the 50k range? It looked good on TV.

And this...

One of my best friend’s daughter is a UF Ambassador - for the whole university, not just football. He copied & sent me a long text she sent after the game.

1. Mullen came to a group of about 15 of them before the game and gave them a pep talk. She said, “Talk about getting you in the right frame of mind.”

2. She wound up spending the whole game talking to a recruit and his grandfather. She had no idea who they were but found out later he is “one of the top recruits in the nation and one of UF’s most pursued players.”

3. After the game, Mullen came over to speak with the recruit. She didn’t think much of it until reporters swarmed the recruit.

She didn’t say who it was. But I’m guessing that welcome and excitement was effective and replicated with a few dozen elite recruits. From that standpoint it was a huge day.

Percy was stoned.

During the game and during the interview.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when he was interviewed didn't he say that the most exciting thing he experienced when playing at The Swamp was when Moss blocked the kick against.... Mississippi?

I give most of you guys credit for being fairly knowledgeable about the game, but this whole Trask is better than Franks thing is perplexing to me. I don't see it.

Franks was head and shoulders above Trask yesterday. I know it's perspective and some will vehemently disagree with me, but after this spring game, we can give up on the Trask being a starter talk.

I think E. Jones is easily the "best" QB we have. However, I think Franks starts until Jones is ready.

I also saw a few comments about this game being skewed to show Franks in a positive light. If true, that proves who's better. I doubt Mullen is trying to rig the competition for Franks. Neither of those guys were recruited by him.
I'm not hating guys. I don't have anything against Trask. I just don't see what all the fuss is about.

FWIW I'm less (note...I did not say NOT, but LESS) concerned about QB than I am about the OL. When watching the game I did not get the impression that the defensive front seven were "getting after it". There were numerous opportunities for sacks where players seemed to pull up. They had their hands tied regarding the white shirts (rightly so, since it's just the spring game). IF Hevesy can conjure up a half-way decent O-line I think either Franks or Trask will be serviceable. If they have time to give, hold, or throw I think we have enough athletes in the backfield and out wide to gain a good number of yards.

Neither QB will sniff All SEC (or likely even the top 50% of SEC QBs, statistically), but if they can make enough throws and gain enough positive yards tucking the ball and running I believe it'll open up opportunities for the stable we have behind them.

If the OL doesn't get it's stuff together...it's gonna be a LOOOOOOONG season.

Well actually its not really hard for someone to be better than Franks. I don't think that makes Trask a good QB but I do think the kid is a better passer and he scans the field much better than Franks. We still wont be good at the position until Jones is ready.

I missed the live version so I watched the replay this AM. My less than 2 cents thoughts:

1.Because of the "drafting", the guest coaches, the play calling, and the shenanigans with former players coming onto the field, I just can't take what I saw very seriously.

2. Basically, a giant pep rally. Wished I had been there though, I bet it was nonetheless fun.

Well he has had problems related to his brain so being exactly correct might be a difficult thing.

It is very simple without a superior offensive line our expectations are very difficult to impossible to meet. I doubt that even with better training and coaching we will be getting this very soon, I hope to be proven incorrect, but experience says otherwise.

If it was up to me Franks would never touch a football for the Gators again. Not even in practice. Ever.

It's too bad you can't trade college players. You could probably sucker another school into taking him based on his one throw against UT.

I desperately don't want to open the season with him under center. To me, he's just the next link in the dismal chain of Brantley, Driskel, Murphy, Del Rio, etc.

I just want to watch a Gator QB and not feel like shooting myself.
