We rarely had Spurrier-esque blowouts under Meyer.
Scores in 2008:

Hawaii 56–10
Miami 26-3
Tennessee 30–6
Ole Miss 30–31
Arkansas 38–7
#4 LSU 51–21
Kentucky 63–5
#8 Georgia 49–10
Vanderbilt 42–14
#24 South Carolina 56–6
The Citadel 70–19
#23 Florida State 45–15
#1 Alabama 31–20
#2 Oklahoma 24–14

Again, Zambo evidently didn't watch 2008. 51 points on LSU, 63 on Kentucky, 49 on UGA, 56 on USC, 45 on FSU, etc.

Sober up.

Yes 08 was a good year. Was that the only year Meyer was here?

Tebow was certainly special. But in 06 without him starting, we didn't score 30 points against a single SEC opponent until the CG against Arky.

We did however rack up the points against the cupcakes while Meyer was here, but that is what every coach is supposed to do. Scoring 50 points against Wyoming isn't anything to thump your chest about.
Even though you're my favorite poster, you sure stubbed your toe on this embarrassing post.

Ah I see....2008 doesn't count. You didn't mention that in your original post.

When did I say 08 doesn't count? I honestly think that was more due to Tebow and Harvin than anything Meyer did. I mostly remember the kind of ball we played in 06. I don't know what you think is embarrassing about bringing it up...we won the NC but didn't score 30 points against anybody that wasn't a cupcake until the postseason. His 2015 one-loss season at pOSU was similar....didn't score 50 points all season and only topped 40 a couple of times.

However, if you want to crown him....crown him.

I seem to remember a 2006 national championship game where OSU received an Urban foot up their Buckeye a** in a blowout.....

I don't have to. Others have already crowned him three times.
Dude, I'm not arguing that Meyer isn't a great coach. Unlike some of the butt hurt folks around here, I think he's one of the best coaches around. I'm just pointing out that his offenses aren't always lights out. We had a lot of great defensive turnovers, blocked kicks, etc during his time here and that's why I say we were a complete 3 phase team. I know you were still in diapers during 06 but I can still hear all the complaining about hour lack of offense that year.

I'd love to get that guy, but it's just not realistic. Might as well say, "Let's go get Urban back". It ain't happenin!

ThreatMatrix loves this dude, but his list of coaches is completely unrealistic.

Va Tech is as much a football school as we are. They'll bump his salary this off-season and he'll be a long-term coach there.

It's Frost or bust...
Damn man, Mac and Chump have completely beat some of you guys down. The fact that you would say this and be serious is sad.

No, Va Tech is not an equivalent Football School or Job as UF. One has 3 NC, 3 HT winners, plays in the top conference , is in the state with the best recruits, have played in 12 Conference championship games (that's more than Bama if you are keeping track) have won 7, the same number as Bama, etc, etc, etc.

Thank God Stricklin realizes the damage "the greatest AD in the US" has done and is ready to set things straight.

No goddamnit, we are not equal to fuking V Tech. Time for us to remember just who we are again. The Giant was lulled to sleep for awhile, but time to wake the fuk up!

In 2006 our offense was frustrating because we had the wrong QB for the system....and still won it all. And I was 30 freaking years old that year.

You made a statement that was patently false. About half of all of Meyer's games at UF were blowouts.

Pulling a guy from a Power 5 school is going to be harder than getting someone from UCF or Memphis. Sort of feel sorry for Memphis. They lost Fuente to Virginia Tech then come back with a good find in Norvell who is probably going to leave Elvis Land too.

Arkansas State lost 3 coaches 3 years in a row!! Hugh Freeze (to Ole Miss), Gus Malzahn (to Auburn), and Bryan Harsin (to Boise). Blake Anderson has been there since 2014...

Yeah we sucked. Top five in OFFENSE and DEFENSE. How's that for balance?

EDIT: Take a step further...what'd we avg vs those top 25 schools? Nuff said.

edit2: 6-0 vs ranked teams

He'd be a great hire and at a much higher cost, which brings us back to the premium versus value debate as well as the availability factor. When premium's not available, you go value shopping. Sometimes you win, often you lose.

This article lists all the buyouts for our coaching candidates, Fuente is only $6 million:

http://www.gatorcountry.com/feature/florida-football-coaching-search-buyout-less-than-jim-mcelwain/
Weird. I saw other sites say $15 mil.

Fuente’s buyout figure, should he want to terminate the deal prior to Dec. 15 in a given year, is $6 million in 2017, $5 million in 2018, $3 million in 2019, $1 million in 2020, $750,000 in 2021 and $500,000 in 2022. The numbers in the first four years are identical to his original deal.
