UF's SEC opponents for next year have been announced: http://www.gatorsports.com/2018/06/sec-releases-opponent-breakdown/ UF plays UGa, UK and Vandy twice every year. UF plays LSU and UTn twice this year. UF hosts UMs, UMo, SoCar and aTm this year. UF visits UAL, UAR, AU and Miss. State this year. I think this is not too bad a draw. I like getting SoCar and Martin's rough play only once and at home though UF split with them last year with each team winning on the road.
I’ve got a pretty good source that says maybe not so much. Apparently he isn’t much of a teammate, on or off the court, and nobody was crying any tears when he decided to test the camps. Maybe he can mature and become a good teammate, but there are some who really question if that can happen.
Nembhard played in FIBA U18 Americas for Canada. A few things from it: 1. Despite being listed on 247sports at 6'4", FIBA says he is 187 CM or 73.5 inches. 2. In 6 games he averaged 27 min, 15.7 points, 8.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds. 3. He shot 48.1% inside the arc, 40.7% from the arc but a worrisome 56.3% from the FT line though he did get better from the line as the tourney went on. 4. Canada won is group and finished second, but the US blew them out in the championship game (without R.J Barrett) getting revenge for a loss to Canada last year. 5. Nembhard had 53 assists and 22 turnovers. (8 assists and 7 turnovers against the US) Here is a short interview with Nembhart after one game.
I looked him up and they have him at 6'4. 6'4 vs 6'1.5 is a huge difference. http://www.fiba.basketball/americas/u18/2018/team/Canada#|tab=roster Those are some nice stats. I hope he turns out to be a 80% FT shooter and cut his turnovers down, but I am looking for him to be starting at PG from game 1.
This is quite curious. I took it from his individual page for FIBA U18 Americas: http://www.fiba.basketball/americas/u18/2018/player/Andrew-William-Nembhard I suspect it is just a mistake and because the team page, 247sports and UF in the signing day press release say 6'4" I am guessing that that will be closer to his actual height.
platform basketball shoes?
6'4" vs 6'1.5", that's a vertical leap. He young & green, we get to watch him grow up.
UF tips the season at FSU: http://www.gatorsports.com/2018/06/gators-to-tip-off-season-at-florida-state/
http://www.gatorsports.com/2018/07/a-look-at-ufs-top-2019-recruiting-targets/ Mike White doin work on the recruiting trail. A 5* and two 4*'s coming in this season.
Some big names on the list for 2019. I like that White aint afraid to go after the blue chippers. But I would like to see some more big dudes on the list and on roster. I think the new assistant coach from T Tech will do some great work with the bigs.
I am hoping for a class of: PG: Mann SF: C.J. Walker PF: Payne then if any if Antoine, Brown, Igiehon or Lewis want in that would be icing on the cake and I think you find room for any of them. But who knows maybe the staff likes: PG: Sturdivant SF: Ramsey PF: Jitoboh or maybe they like Walton better than Ramsey. Since UF fans get so little out of the beat writer, this remains a mystery every year which is why UF often end up with a surprise signee.
Basketball coverage may take a hit without Brockway. He always had good input and coverage. Was always willing to discuss on twitter as well
Well, now he gets to discuss textbooks and teacher planning days.
Probably didn't want to travel like covering bball requires
I wonder how he is qualified to do that. And covering Florida education will require some travel to do properly.
