I noticed he's doged every question about the type of offense he will run. I guess recruiting should at least clue us into pro style vs spread especially with QB.

Or maybe some kind of hybrid of both. No doubt we will see something new at the O&B game in April depending on what he has to work with. The line from his presser, "Our offense will be a blast to watch" has me salivating.....

So has any kids flipped/committed to us since the hiring?

I don't think we have gotten anybody... only lost some... it will take a little time for him to meet guys and get them to recruit... they probably also want to see who will be on his staff... that will be key.

Ok. I agree that putting a great coaching staff together is very important. Any news on who will be on the staff?

Dang we are down to #95 in Rivals recruiting rankings now. I will be happy if he can get a top 20 class after this start.

Well, I guess that puts to bed once and for all the notion that the University of Florida recruits itself.

Yep. I am sure we will get back to our high standards but it might take a couple of years.

Still think that is true. The premise, however, is centered around general competency at the top. When you have dead weight, and a coaching staff that is doing more harm than good(see Cook and Lane last year) it weighs us down. I'll say this, I bet there isn't a team within 20 spots of us that could realistically end up in the top 20, or that has higher profile recruits actively wanting to meet the new staff the way we have right now. That's a tremendous credit to the school/program itself.

Anyone remember if those were mostly players Zook had got to commit before he was fired that Meyer kept when he took over and got that 15th ranked class I think it was or was it mostly guys not committed at that point?

Atkins, Stamper, Sledge, Haupe(sp?), Boetang, Portis, both RF and David Nelson, KMoore, and Monroe were all Meyer commits off the top of my head. He retained everyone except the so fla trio that went to ut, all of whom were pretty much out the door before Zook was ever fired.

Twitter lighting up with number of recruits Mac will meet, has met, and is meeting. I think we should devise a rating for the coach on recruiting if this keeps up: RPH [Recruits Per Hour]. Impressed so far.

What I meant was that the work still needs to be put in which is counter to the opinion of some who say that Joe Blow could recruit a top 10 class to Florida. That's just not the case anymore. The playing field had been leveled to a degree with scholarship limits and upgraded facilities at other schools.

But for sure damage was done the last couple years due to an unwatchable offense and the uncertainty of a coach in a tenuous position.

That's close to our offensive rankings the last four years.

It still has to get past the NCAA, but the Florida UAA has made up a cool new action figure to hand out to recruits to get them excited about our new coach. It's one part intimidating, one part acid trip, and one part awesome. Only $14.99 at the Florida Bookstore.

I haven't heard anything about coaching staff yet. I think Mac is trying to spend the day contacting recruits then will work on staff... just a guess based on the number of recruits he is talking to. I am really hoping he can hold on to some of the defensive staff, but I keep hearing that Champ will be taking them. I can't imagine Durkin goes to become less than DC somewhere, and I'd be surprised if Lawling goes back to USC, but who knows... he might.
