I always remembered Dougie as being capable of playing some pretty good football, but came with strings attached by whining to officials during the games and generally came off like a spoiled brat. Didn't want that guy to be the face of Gator football.

He's an underrated insurance agent.

I had Wayne Peace as my insurance agent for several years. Super guy. Humble to the point he seemed to feel very awkward talking about his playing days - as a Gator and a local legend at Lakeland High.

Donkers said that the Meyer Spread offense worked 2 of 6 years. What is the criteria for it "working'? Does that mean the Spurrier Offense worked 1 of 12 years??

Managing to get say top 15-20 production out of top 3-5 talent= working.

Ok so 5 out of 6 were great Meyer years.

2005 - 9-3 and looked MUCH better than the Zook years
2006- WON NC 13-1
2007 - 9-4 offense was great, D not so good but set up 08. Tebow HEISMAN WINNER
2008- WON NC 13-1
2009- 13-1 couldn't beat Bama, STILL a great year compared to the last 9 years or so
2010- 8-5 Meyer was already gone but still better than the last few years

5 out of 6 isn't bad. I'm sure you will point out the negatives cause that is what you do...Go Gators!!

Well, yeah. And now he parades around with media support like he’s a Gator Great. BS. He could have and should have, but by his own admission he goofed off most of his college career. His foray into baseball overworked his arm and distracted him - fat and happy with a $400k signing bonus.

He did throw THE pass to Quezzie in 1997 but otherwise a forgettable career. Ruined much of SOS’s last 5 years at UF. What a waste.

And don’t forget the $40,000 fishing boat he bought that also distracted him. If he’d spent half as much time practicing being a QB as he did chasing largemouth bass he probably would have been a decent player for us.

Failing to win the division even isn't a great year. We aren't South Carolina. Hell, winning the division then getting destroyed in championship game isn't a great year either. Maybe good.

And none of that says anything about what I said, the offense didn't work. The STs worked great, all time best ever IMO. Defense was mostly great.

2009 offense was pretty bad compared to 07 and 08 when you just took the SEC games into consideration. In 09 they really padded the stats like crazy against the mediocre competition. We stalled a lot in the red zone against the good teams that year.

We’d kill for that level of offensive production this year.

My understanding is that created a wedge with his teammates too. He’s living the life while they were busting it. And then there’s the LSU debacle. Don’t know if those rumors of him partying the week before are true but he sure played like it.

Thankfully, I’ve never been cursed/tempted by good looks, large amounts of money or incredible talent.

That three-year period between Wuerffel's Heisman and the arrival of Grossman was an esp trying period for SOS. I began to wonder whether he was starting to lose it when he started alternating quarterbacks what seemed like every other possession.

Spurrier had NO patience for crappy quarterback play.

Muschamp may be stubborn, but he's no dummy. I wouldn't yet bet against him becoming a decent head coach. The man can recruit.

I'm surprised he has learned to control his emotions enough to not be constantly targeted by the cameras trying to catch the exact moment his head explodes. Maybe they have medicinal marijuana in South Carolina now.

Really, I think Muschamp is the walking talking incarnation of a dummy.
The walking, talking incarnation of a dummy will make $4.2 million USD this year.

How much will you make?

Beating a bunch of hacks by 2-6 points then failing to score an offensive touchdown versus a terrible ugly then getting blown out by a midmajor in a nothingburger bowl isn't a pretty good season.

Exactly, the standards of some of the presumably younger fans around here are amazing. They also probably think when I say a 10 win season this year or UF hired the wrong guy, 10 wins this guy thinks UF is going to be really good. When in fact it could be something like a Muschamp/McElwain 10 win season.

I don't make nearly as much. Then again I don't make nearly as much "Sean Penn [who] met with Hugo Chavez on numerous occasions, describing him as a “fascinating guy” who did “incredible things....” Another example of a walking talking incarnation of a dummy who is actually good at his craft rather than mediocre.
