UF pilfers FAU to hire Kerry Dixon II as WR coach

I think by now most of us have learned to trust Coach Mac. Doesn't seem like a splash hire at first glance but I have a feeling Big Mac has a plan and this guy fits into his plan.

This is all about recruiting. Higgens was a top WR, and I doubt it was because of their WR coach. If it was, he would be here. Me thinks someone else was behind his success.

Underwhelming, at best. Look for Mac to be fully involved with the WR's, but you can't catch it for them.

I trust in JMac, but just like the DL that bolted after a month to go to the NFL, I look at this guys history:

I'm not seeing long term commitment or stability anywhere other than perhaps the last stint at FAU. Who knows, maybe being at a big program like UF will get him to stay put for awhile, if he proves out. Like I said, I trust in JMac.

IIRC Mac did say he was retaining Leak in some fashion. Maybe Leak just doesn't have enough recruiting "tentacles" out there yet.

Either way it never hurts to have a former QB with a large ring on staff, These kids like to see stuff like that.

Foley got his man it appears. I don't think it matters a whole lot who it is with McElwain there.

Or he just doesn't have the connection that Dixon does coming from S.Florida. McElwain wants to own S. Florida recruiting... this is a step toward that. With Dixon and Shannon.. S.Florida should be a pipeline to UF.
