As I've stated too many times to count, UF has the luxury of not having to constantly look at what other schools are doing. Spurrier never cared who a team like uga got. Neither did Meyer. We simply need to focus on getting our players. When we do, we are better than anything they're going to roll out. Saturday is a perfect example of that, and we're still not even at full strength. If it's our best vs their best, we will win that battle way more than we lose it.
Does it worry you at all that Trask, by far the biggest reason for our progress, was gifted to Mullen and it took a Franks injury for Mullen to even recognize what had fallen into his lap? it worries me a bit looking to what our offense might look like going forward. I was just watching some Nick Fitzgerald highlights. It wasn't very comforting.

Apparently Giraffe isn't our biggest problem...

Florida must overcome Arkansas' defensive threats

I'm not seeing it. Their wins were against 2-4 powerhouses Tenn, Ole Miss and MSU.

Franks numbers are actually pretty good. Better than I would have guessed. This could be a fairly interesting matchup. Hopefully our guys aren't still celebrating the win over the dwags. Need to come out sharp and crush their spirit early.

I really dont GAF about top 50. You are in 3* leftover land there.

And take a look at the Rivals top 150 for 2006 (or any other Meyer year) and compare it Dan McMullwain's recruiting.

I'm not equating their recruiting. My point was, and still is, that if we take care of ourselves, we'll be fine against teams like uga, tenn, etc.

But to use your arbitrary Top-25 rule, in Meyer's first 4 classes, he had a total of 26 of those players(3,9,10,8 respectively), or an average of 6.5 per year. In Mullen's first 4 classes, at the moment, he has 16 of them(3,4,5,4*right now), or an average of 4. It's not on par. No one is questioning that. But it's not taking scraps either.

One huge advantage that Meyer had was a fading Bowden and Coker, plus a beginning to fade OOS threat in Fulmer. The vols especially had crazy in-roads here that were beginning to crumble. When Mullen came in, we had Smart, Swinney and Saban all doing way better than they should be in the state. That's a different challenge, given where those programs are at. He's also allowed Diaz to get a foothold. That's on him. Hopefully uga is slowly being pushed out. You can criticize recruiting decisions and certain staff while also recognizing that he did not walk into the UF of 2005.

I disagree; he's in it until he's not. Just like somebody else isn't in it until they commit.

Send in a fax is where I’m satisfied about someone being in the class...I’m not so sure that Rucker can get in...although the test scores not counting is a blessing...he’s borderline though from what I heard

I fully admit that I have no idea whether he can actually get accepted - and neither does anyone else; but until then, the whole list is based on commitments and he's committed.

I said in the Mullen Hire thread that I hope he's seen not only how our team has responded with a more dynamic passing attack, but also how the shift of the game is taking place. Personally, I don't think we have a Fitzgerald type QB on the roster. Jones has a great arm, Richardson is young but did well at the E11, and while I don't know much about DelRio, we also have Kitna in this upcoming class. I think Mullen has shown he can and will adapt. With Trask it was out of necessity due to skill set. In the future, it may be more about where the game is headed currently. I'd personally be more concerned with the "win 21-14" mindset that exists at every other East school right now. The timing is setting up perfectly in that regard.

On the Franks/Trask thing, no. As I've said, practice reports for years had Trask very up and down, never great. Franks fit the mold, and has the "potential". No different than the 4(I think) teams that have gone out of their way to sign Driskell in the NFL. Some OC or coach sees the measurables and upside and thinks they can be the one to get it out of him. Trask is just a baller. But it wasn't as if Franks was playing horrible at the finish of '18. He looked good in the final 4 games. He just didn't improve at all going into last year. Also, remember, it took a 12 Int day by Dean against Auburn for Spurrier to completely give the reigns to DW. And that was after he'd bailed us out in Lexington the year before. Some guys are just way better with the lights on.

Let's not forget, Mullen was about to lose to UK, again!! And he appeared to be resigned to the loss until Franks got hurt. That was terrible coaching being saved by incredible balling out by Trask. Give him all the benefit of the doubt you want, but he was fuking up royally in that game. Everyone, and I mean everyone except the QB guru could see we needed to pull Franks for Trask in that game. Mullen's stubbornness indirectly lead to Franks injury and damn near cost him the game.

I'm not anti-Mullen. I'm on-board because as they say, your record is your record and he's getting results currently. I'm just not sure how much of his success is simply superior QB play as someone pointed out earlier in this thread. And the success is by a QB he didn't recruit and one he didn't choose to be leading his team. It's a fact that Trask as starter had to be forced on Mullen no matter how we sugarcoat it.

The gal in bed with Swonkey says: "You're a pervert." ... Swonkey says: " Whoa now. That's a very complex legal concept for a 12 year old."
NO CHILDREN.

you can accuse me of many things and a percentage I won't now admit will be correct, but this isn't one of them. Pervs/muslims/mormons are disgusting.

A fair question that was not asked of me, but butting in is just what we do, so... The following is a recitation of the basic facts as I recall them;

Trask suffered a season ending injury during Spring practice, 2017. He was again taken out of any chance to unseat FF after the Misery fiasco in DM's 1st year, due to a second injury, that again, occurred in practice. To be fair, FF is the better athlete and has one of the biggest arms in CFB, making him the theoretically better fit for the RPO. And his performance late in the 2018 season was fairly encouraging. Admittedly, he pretty much stunk it up bigtime in 2019 and was ripe for the picking when he went down at KY. Now before the hate monkeys jump on the "excuses, excuses horse," facts are facts, like it or not. I too wish that Trask had not been hindered by injuries and unfounded hopes that FF would finally see the light and grow into his physical talent. If, if, if...

To your second point...
I sincerely hope that the Nick Fitzgerald comparison to our 2021 QB room is not an apt one. If it is, we are FUBAR and so are DM's long-term prospects at UF. That is all.

Respectfully yours,
The cyber ass-hole
