And I have to say, this is one of the biggest disasters of a season I have ever seen any college football team have. Good Lord. I think the football Gods have demanded payment for the Jameis years.

I’m old enough to remember the 1970’s. They used to publish a “Bottom 20” and FSU topped that list. 1973 0-11, 1974 1-10, 1975 3-8. It was delicious.

They’re headed that direction for sure

There’s a generational distinction among Gator fans’ patience. I was born in 1961. When I arrived at UF in January 1980 we had zero SEC championships and were coming off a winless season. The Swamp held 74,000 or so, had astroturf and we cheered first downs. We saw the foundation laid in the early 80’s, suffered the sinkholes of NCAA violations then saw the dawn of a true SOS response. Meanwhile, traditional powers like USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Bama each suffered major dips.

When you were 18, we were in the middle of the unprecedented rise to SEC dominance and approaching our first NC. The bar was set higher, where it should be.

Not suggesting the older perspective is better, it’s just a function of time that mixes in with personality etc.

* Think about the generational perspective for Noles. Any of them born after around 1965 were steeped in Bowden’s run, then Fisher’s dead cat bounce with jaMEis. Now this.

Why did you start at UF in January (vs. the fall or summer)? Mormon mission? :)

growing up in trailerhassee I went to a few of those pre-Bowden era games (even a couple of Bobby games). It mirrored the current sparseness of the crowd and lack of enthusiasm- loving the fact that history is repeating itself.

Then again, that should have happened the past two seasons. Should have scored 60 on them easily last November.
Sorry, don't care about last season. We won last season but, it would be fantastic to dismantle them when they totally suck rear end this year... Fortunately, they won't be any better next season so, we'll hopefully get to dismantle them - if we can find a QB next season.

As I posted to your response, I was thinking more of what Mullen should have done last week vs Georgia. I hate when Mullen takes his foot off the gas pedal in the 2nd half. It's happened in other games.

My dad’s business suffered a downturn that year, so I took 6 months to work and save money to pay for school. I loaded trucks at night for a food, paper and janitorial supply distributor.

During that time I also discovered the CLEP tests and passed a bunch of them, English, math, history, Spanish, biology, etc. I started at UF with 81 quarter hours (54 semester hours), so it worked out rather well.

Nice. Good for you. Too many coddled MFer's nowadays expecting everything to be free!

For whatever little it's worth, my family moved to Gainesville in the summer of '89 when I was 13, and my first Gators experience was attending the opening game of the season where we were poleaxed by a garbage Ole Miss team. The power of Kyle Morris just wasn't enough. Got to see Emmitt, at least.

Hence, I have a small taste of really lousy Gator football.

Considering there seems to be a rule that all Gators must endure significant pain, your late arrival to our long-suffering is probably the reason we had to go through the lost decade. So, clearly you and Ox King are to blame. Thanks for nothing.

I can sympathize; my first in-person experience was taking the future Mrs. G up to Knoxvegas for a game in Spurrier’s first season as HC. It was a horrible beat down the Vols won 45-3.
