AR has looked terrible BUT the play calling (other than running) has been pretty terrible. Why are screens only to XH who has no wiggle at all? Why are there no quick releases to the RB? All the pass plays are long developing plays and AR just doesn’t have the experience or trust in his receivers to anticipate those plays.
And for the love of god, no more XH jet sweeps. He's terrible at them.

I think we need to let Kitna or Engel take some series. Richardson has been great coming off the bench but doesn't seem to have it when he's QB#1. Maybe having to fight some QB competition will get him out of his funk.

The play calling needs to be better. This is college. Not the NFL. They need to develop AR. Run some RPOs and involve the backs in the passing game. Get AR in a rhythm.
I agree, those wide receiver screen have got to go and that jet sweep they ran to the short side of the field with absolutely no action to force the defense to flow away from the ball was idiotic. But the offensive performance issues are more on the QB performance right now than the play calling.

C2, best read in a long time. My Single Wing suggestion was more facetious than serious, but actually might work on a few plays. I have asked for years and years, why not use RB's as pass catchers out of the backfield? Not as just check downs but also in the flats, wheel routes, option routes on LB's after clearing out the middle? I have given up on AR running with a passion and head of steam anymore, so to replace that, here is my new facetious idea for AR in the run game. Call a drop back pass, watch AR stand flat footed scanning the field, however with ZERO intention of throwing the ball. Telling him to actually be looking for a crease to scramble. It will be called a scramble but actually it is designed. Sounds stupid but might open up wider lanes with the field more spread out vertically. Lastly, every time Sling Blade or whoever sends in the play it should be accompanied by these words "DO NOT CHANGE THE FVKKING PLAY"

Rough to watch. I hope Williams turns into a great LB but on many plays he was just had a knack to find (or get pushed) to ground off the play. Without Miller I’m not sure we will keep any team under 250 running at this point. As bad as it was, at times watching ARs play has been like a punishment.

Shout out to Desmond Watson, his dietitian and S&C people. He's starting to move.

He can, eventually, be a force that requires a double.

Unfortunately our Williams wearing #17 looks nothing like #17 DJ Williams of years past at scrotUM. Guess that is why his name is Scooby. BTW #7 on defense needs more snaps.

I would like to see an old fashioned bootleg with a pass option.

Why did our DB's play so far off the opponents receivers? Third and six-eight is not much of a problem when the secondary lines up twelve yards off the receiver.

Our D without Miller is like a scarecrow without a brain. Scoobs and Shemar show flashes but not solid yet.

I struggle looking at the defense, little talent on the DL, poor effort sans Cox who is always 100mph, right or wrong? We knew DT were scarce and keep playing ends inside. Stunted Dexters growth vs he just isn’t there? Always run vanilla because you need solid LB and safety play to allow the DL to run more stunts? And well, we have Dean.
Same could be said of the DB, giving a cushion becof skill/trust vs keeping a cushion to scan and make sure an LB didn’t forget something?

Hope and Change dies again ;)

Cover, good summary.

On the positive side, our DB play appears to have improved. They are actually covering receivers and making plays on the ball, to generate turnover opportunities. (Kimber) The coaching job by Raymond seems to be taking hold. As you said our OL play is our strength and again, good coaching and technique have matched up well with our big boy line.

As we feared no depth at LB and the loss of #51 was a bad as predicted. Not clear why we did not assign an an LB to "spy" Bohannon similar to what UK did to AR in game 2. Maybe it is because Miller would have been the choice and no one else could be trusted. But at least that guy would know his assignment.

Bohannon and AR had similar abysmal passing stats, and whatever happened to stop the run and make him beat us with his arm? No adjustments. Apparently the end zone interception was a check off by AR and that seems to be a pattern. AR needs to sit , but without another QB, we have what we have. The only positive about this weeks game is that it is not at night. So at least there will be more time for us to utilize" CAB"S" a la Sam Pittman, or your other favorite therapeutic of choice to counter the expected beat down in Knoxville.

Cover, great as always.

I am not sure that Napier has what he needs to accomplish more on offense, therefore taking a very conservative approach. He does have his run game and OL playing well. Lean heavily on that. Be who you are. Agreed to the point that if AR cannot accomplish the short to intermediate routes/plays, what makes us think that he can open up the offense more deep? Not unless until Miller is available. Not trying to defend Napier, but perhaps there is more of a mess than we realize from a personnel standpoint. Reason I say this is look at the D last night and all the younger guys getting snaps. I am afraid the void we have is more of an abyss at this point.

UT......who knows what will happen. UF can win it, UT always can find a way to lose. We really have more questions about this season than we had 3 weeks ago.

I will say one thing about this team. Not in any of the games this year have I sensed a fear or panic. The last few years we have been notorious for shytting the bed. Don't have that feeling with this team and staff.

I'm just not ready to blame the play calling yet...sure it's basic but that's also largely due to personnel problems. The fact of the matter is that AR can't throw the ball accurately past 5 yards. Guys were open last night. We played the 126th ranked passing defense and barely eclipsed 100 yards.

AR against Utah took what the defense gave him and dumped it off when necessary. The checkdown in the red zone and some of his passes have largely been him trying to prove to NFL scouts that he is a day one pick.

AR is physically gifted....but then again so was Driskel.

At this rate, once Miller comes back, AR should be on a much shorter leash. Miller won't go win you a game but he might keep you from losing it which AR has done once and nearly done twice.

Also Toney is an overrated DC. If Sidebar gets fired bring him back
