The NCAA has always been a corrupt organization used to help certain schools gain leverage over the competition through selective enforcement. Keeping UF “the sleeping giant” down was an obvious priority. Can’t wait until they are fully obsolete.

I appreciated that Pell came from the Bama school and misunderestimated that UF would not be treated the same way as those that would be its judges.

My point was that this ain't the same college football world as 1979.

I’ll give Napier and company credit for the fact that 2 years ago a kid of this stature would have a uga hat in place of ours, Lakeland or not, or we’d simply be a hat with no chance.

No no....have you learned nothing running this forum? It only counts as a TRUE positive when he signs...and even then he has to qualify academically....and then see the field. ;)

This is going to be an absolutely sick class - it's not going to be done with McClain. We're going to get that top-5 class quicker than anyone really could have believed, even me. Changing the entire perception of the program in one year and working their asses off on the trail has been just fantastic to see. Recruits love their visits, and high school coaches statewide do nothing but gush about these coaches. The future is extraordinarily bright on the trail. UF has already taken back the state and it's only going to get better.

Hopefully this class will be enough to feel a little optimism and give the staff a bit of credit, who have already been declared dead and buried by our fan base 7 games into this rebuild.

Changing the entire perception of the program in one year and working their asses off on the trail has been just fantastic to see. Absolutely....they are killing it on the trail and I'm looking forward to seeing how it feeds into other areas of the program. They are getting kids to come here that wouldn't have even sniffed us over the last decade. That has to count for something.

I just hope something can be done to fix the defense before the FSU game. These defensive breakdowns illustrated by GNFP are just plain devastating. Its not about the record for me....though I think six wins and a bowl game are crucial from a practice and coaching perspective. Its about showing improvement. We can't really be dead last in the nation on 3rd down can we?

For the record, I never said anything about buried. Anyway, it’s only Wednesday, and to my knowledge Napier is a not a Semitic name, so that wouldn’t even make sense.

Thanks for enlightening the newbies.
You had to be there during that era to truly see what happened. Pell brought the Bear Bryant tried and true model of success to UF and the powers that be crushed him for it.
People forget that certain individuals like Vince Dooley (as corrupt an individual as one could ever find in college athletics) wielded serious power and influence via committee memberships and such and they made sure that the sleeping giant stayed that way.

And don't forget he had the South Endzone built & completed 2 hours before the Miami game in 1982 ( 40 years ago). FWIW he also was instrumental in starting the FGTDC...just my $.02...Go Gators...
