So would you rather be UF or MSU?? UF still playing. MSU EMBARRASSED and now apart of all time history in a BAD way. Yes I would rather be in the NCAA Tourney but I would not want to be linked to having lost in the first round to a MAJOR underdog when MSU was an overwhelming favorite to go to the Final 4.

Personally, I would rather have been a one and done this season in the big dance. It's great to see the hoops team end the losing streak against pOSU, but it's not like we weren't one and done before. We had 5 consecutive early exits before finally winning it all.

Ask Georgia if they'd rather be in the NIT or a one and done in the big dance. Ask F$U, oh never mind. Those idiots told us Gator fans a team is most remembered by winning a conference title than how far you advance the NCAA tournament. As a matter of fact, don't ask the Nole fans. It was back in 2012 when those dumb @sses made that comment.

I would rather be MSU. It is ALWAYS better to make the NCAA field than to be in the NIT. ALWAYS!

Your ultimate goal is to make the tourney no matter what.

Coach White just tied Tommy Bartlett for the most wins ever by a first year Gator coach. One more and the record will be all his. Also, Brockway says White is unusually adept at drawing up inbounds plays--two resulting in wide open lay ups.
Say, don't I remember some of you coach wannabes complaining about his in bounds plays?

Tommy Bartlett won 21 games during the regular season when he inherited a team that was loaded to include the best player in school history (Neal Walk) that Norm Sloan left for him.

Oh by the way, he was fired 2-3 years later when the talent he inherited was gone.

Just saying, I don't think there is any comparison between the two situations.

FYI. Florida plays George Washington Wednesday. GW beat up Monmouth. Too bad the O Dome is closed. This would have made 3 home games.

Monmouth was the team most pundits said really deserved to be in the NCAA tournament. I hope my daughter can attend the game in Washington.

GW beat some good teams like Virginia. They also beat Tennessee, but split with Richmond (lost at home to Richmond in OT).

LOL, ya'll would be crying and complaining like crazy had we been one and done in the ncaa tourney ESPECIALLY if we had made history going down to a 15 seed. My question is whether or not you would want to be MSU or UF at this very moment?? MSU was a Final 4 contender and EXPECTED to go all the way pretty EASILY. They crapped the bed and lost in a HUGE shocking upset. YES you ALWAYS want to make the tourney BUT i definitely would not want to be a laughingstock like MSU right now. They were a popular pick to make the Final 4 in the easiest bracket.

Great coaching by Mike White to get these guys ready and also to be able to shuffle the lineup with Egbunu injured and then DFS got injured in the game for a little bit too. White has been able to get the best out of these guys and able to put these guys in position to win. He went to a 2 guard line up to combat the OSU press as they were trying to get turnovers to try and get back into the game. Chiozza and Hill were able to easily break the press and finish off the game. 16 wins last year and now 21 wins this year. This program is heading in the right direction! Gotta give White some time in recruiting. Go Gators!!

I like you jboss, but I think you're off base here. I'd rather make the big dance with a chance to make some noise, even if we were to lose in the first round (it happens). I'm all for playing in the NIT (since that's what we deserved anyway) and getting this young team some post season experience, but nothing can replace getting into the dance and maybe pulling a couple of upsets to get to the Sweet 16 or further. Who knows? Would I want to be MSU right now? HELL NO! But I also would have rather been in the dance with a chance to do something. We were MSU about what, 15 years ago when we lost to Creighton in the first round (not as bad as MSU, but it happens).

Thanks for the reminder Bart. I still haven't forgiven Orien Greene for that absurd 5 second call late in the game with the lead.
While painful I think the most embarrassing tournament loss was the blowout against Manhattan a year or two after that.

That's the one I was actually trying to remember! 2004. We were a 5 seed, just like vs. Creighton, but losing to Manhattan was worse. Creighton at least had Kyle Korver.

I remember the Manhattan loss.... that was horrible... it was like we didn't even show up.

Bottom line... I'd rather be MSU right now and have lost to a 15 seed than be playing George Washington in a 3 round NIT game. BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE IN THE TOURNEY!!! ALWAYS! EVEN IF YOU LOSE!

You know what we get to say if we win the NIT... We're number 69! - Do you even hang a banner for that?

Of course... I want our team to do well and win it... because we are in it, but I'd rather lose to a 15 seed than win the NIT.

This conversation seems so absurd. WE ALL WANT TO MAKE THE DANCE. We want to be relevant. We want to win games in the Dance. But would you seriously want to be a 2 seed and lose to a 15 seed the first damned day instead of winning games in the NIT. MSU became that one shining moment of embarrassment while we just keep getting to play. No contest. Now if you told me we win one game Im up for that. And I would rather be a 9 seed (or 8 or 7 or 6 or 5) and lose the first game. BUT NEVER a 2 or 1 to lose on day one. I guess we just disagree/
