No one is more disappointed that a PC hasn't been announced yet than me. However, the important thing is that we are wrapping up signing a contract with Chip Kelly. It's going to happen.
Unless it falls through...the longer the more likely, no?

I get what you're saying, but UAAs are not just like a regular pyramid structured private enterprise. You have people that are huge donors not only to the UAA but also to the university itself. You better believe that if a former AD were to whip up enough of those guys to start lighting up the president's phone line he's going to listen. The same could be said for SOS. If he decided to start a coup against a coaching candidate there are probably enough heavy hitters whose ear he has to make it an issue.

Why would Foley do that? The guy choose to retire!!! He made the choice.. he wasn't pushed out at all. So now... after he retires he wants to get a posse of Bull Gators so he can get the coach he wants after the coach he hired got fired? There is no logic to this at all.

Purely speculation, but I would think Foley would have more class than to exert influence like that.

Did he retire? You aren't using all the facts to use in forming an opinion about logic. Why is he still hanging around the program in an official capacity? Furthermore, you don't work a job for as long as he did, then step down but still keep an office, and NOT exert influence.

You answer your own question with your initial objection. How many Type A's do you know that retire and happily sit by watching other people run things? The very fact you realize these guys are all type A's should help you to understand why this is not only possible - but probable. I have no connection with the UAA, but I've been a part of several large civic/charity groups. Even in those spheres the guy that used to run things has a LOT of clout.

Actually they generally move to something else or back off completely to respect the person who is taking the job. Very few continue to mess with it.

Unless this board is cleaned up, decent people will not stay here. It’s getting worse each day. If it is left like it is, it will limit it’s growth potential.
