What team doesn't have staff recruiting? Hell, the elite teams have plenty of "cough" assistants "cough" recruiting. Perhaps he chose UCLA because he wasn't told by the UAA that he will have to keep certain coaches. Maybe they are going to let him do his thing, oh the shock.

Wait a second... I've already been assured it was because UCLA was an easier job.

It is an easier job. He can win 9 games a year and be there 8 years. He can't do that at UF. We want titles. It is also possible what Heitner tweeted is correct and our insisting on Shannon (if reports are true) scared Kelly off. We won't ever know. I hope Kelly has fun, because that is an awful roster.

The Blame Florida First crowd won’t be satisfied with any explanation other than fumbling, foolery and Foley. Forget that an awful lot of inferences were spun out of precious little in the way of facts, inside sources notwithstanding. (And since the sources were often diametrically opposed, the information was there to spin to fit whatever narrative suits.) The trip to Muhammad is an example. I argued that Fuchs’ presence signaled a done deal. My thought was that principals don’t meet unless the surrogates are satisfied. My bad. There’s nothing about the bare fact of a high-level meeting that forces that conclusion. Augusta argued that it was nothing more than an interview. In hindsight, I think Augusta was right. Was it a good idea? Nobody but the hairdresser knows. Did they kiss the ring? Bully? Did one side or the other make unreasonable demands? Talk about the weather? No one but UAA and Kelly knows. Since this only burnishes CK’s well-deserved rep for not playing well with others, I say we came out on top.

I think Florida should have offered an interview with Kelly and offered to fly up there and bring him back to do it. That way you can measure his true interest. If he really was interested, he would have taken one day to do just that. If not, you know that his interest level wasn't as high as you needed it to be. That is exactly how I would have began and ended my courtship of Kelly. All the rest was a waste of time and adds to the punchlines that we are sure to hear from our rivals.

Corral isnt coming to run the option and literally every single one on our list, fanciful or not, runs the option.
Corral will be going to go to UCLA with his friend and teammate Cam McDonald who also de-committed from USC.

Anyone who doesn't think Kelly will turn UCLA into a playoff team quickly is dreaming. Homerun hire for them.

Beg Spurrier for a year or two to buy us time

But I fear the oldie but goldies, Mullen and Strong, get pulled in after ABC is exhausted (Spurrier will never happen; I'm just thinking out loud). I'll take Strong/Gilbert over Mullen if that happens.

I'm out of gas.
The idea of SOS as interim is so retarded it makes we completely disregard anything else you type. The game completely passed him by. Did you not see him quit his last job in the middle of the season (which no one does ever, unless they have a terminal disease or just got busted banging a coed) as the worst recruiter and game-day coach in the league? I actually respected his decision because he wasn't too proud to admit he simply didn't have what it takes to be a HC anymore. Listen to him on Full Ride on Satellite Radio. It's obvious he just isn't the same sharp mind.

No disrespect to one of the greatest, if not the greatest Gators of all time, but the idea of him as an interim is a much worse idea than keeping Shannon, and Shannon is currently the worst HC in the SEC. Thankfully his failure stint is over.

I disagree. What’s the harm? Our offense has looked foolish for about seven years and they were going for a guaranteed fix to satisfy a demanding fan base but now you say they look foolish for trying too hard. Unbelievable.
I agree...if you want the guy you pullout all the stops and bring the big guns. I don’t look at it as we failed with Kelly...nothing we can do if they guy wants to take the easy road. He’s a left coast guy and he’ll have a much easier time winning at UCLA.

Kelly didnt like the prospect of facing SEC defenses every week.
He didn't like the prospect of facing SEC defenses and trying to run his offense with OUR OFFENSIVE LINE. He can turn around everything else, but you can't run hurry up spread offense with a bad slow line that specializes in doing nothing well.

He looked at our line and realized correctly that sh#t can't be fixed for at least 3 recruiting classes and are bad enough to torpedo his whole plan.

BS..he felt its a better job, Period. That's where we are folks...The 8th best job in coaching in LA is better than ours. Live with it!

Did he say that? The guy offered to coach the Browns for Chris' sake! (And the Browns walked away!)
