I fully understand that this trend will not continue once we get to stiffer competition but Franks is currently tied for the lead in the SEC for passing TDs with 12 and only has two INTs. That is an absolutely incredible pace and would give us the most passing TDs since 2001. I’m not sure it will ever fully click with Franks but the improvement in his ability to get it in the end zone from one year to the next deserves some recognition.

Show me signs of improvement and I’ll be happy.

I think it was clear early on that FF was gonna be a project and unfortunately first two years for him were wasted with a staff that couldn’t develop a ham sandwich let alone a QB.

Hopefully by this time next year he is a serviceable QB

Dude, 12 touchdowns against two picks and a pair of unsportsmanlikes is as serviceable as Franks gets.

The unsportsmanlikes were a total joke. Neither were deserved and rarely called anywhere else. Every sack in college football yesterday had more excessive celebration and every defensive lock up had more in your face jawing. No flags. I like my QB getting in a defenders grill. I hope he does it again.

No issue with his being competitive, but Franks needs to reign in some of his actions on the field. He took himself out of a pair of games by being overly reactive.

We will see against Miss State but a lot of that TD number is from Mullen not feeding the RBs down there. The one game he got some real pressure he tried to keep giving it to KY but they weren't accepting it. I will give him real recognition if he can perform under pressure against a pass rush defense like Miss State's. So far most things have been easy for him.

He is leading the SEC. It is as serviceable as anyone gets, especially in this style of offense.

Don't tell me about the guys who only handoff, throw screens passes, and are 80% but only 125 yards a game. I'm talking about a real QB.

One more thing.... he is a soph. He still has time to learn a lot. Did you expect this much improvement? I sure didn't.

How....both are calls that are never made. And neither took him out of the game. One was actually for celebrating a TD. I want him to stay fiery. I don’t like him playing soft or laid back.

Difference of opinion. No big deal. Moving on.

Franks made some good intermediate throws last night, a few that really surprised me. Issue is always the same. He waits too long and then compounds it by doing the wind up. This kid could be so much better.

He is trying. Coach tells him to lead the team. It isn't in his nature.

Yeah, he just looks uncomfortable in the pocket. Seems better on the run.

I don't know if that windup will ever be fixed.

I'm talking about his emotional reaction to being hit hard against Kentucky.

I knew who that was pointed at but he can actually make some nice passes under pressure the few times they have to do it. Its just the coach wants to win Old Bama style as long as he can. Franks has made very plays when dealing with real pressure.

He is because he's much more instinctual on the run than in the pocket.

We're gonna know a lot more about his improvement from the teeth of the sked. And here it comes.

Seriously though....aren’t we supposed to believe nothing comes easy for him? He’s a mental midget, doesn’t have it between the ears?

He’s not Tim, Danny or Rex and never will be. But man is he a far cry from last year. He’s worked really hard, earned the respect of his coaches and teammates and at the very least doing some things many thought he was incapable of doing. I respect this kid for hanging in there and continuing to grind. I wish the fan base would get behind this kid.

How many guys have we had at QB in the past few years who didn't go 12 TD and 2 INT when it was easy? That's not rhetorical, I'd like to know who has put up similar numbers beginning in '10 with the easy early schedule

You’ve got to take into account where this kid started from. His performance in the spring game his true freshman year may be the worst bit of QB play I’ve ever seen. Like “have you ever actually watch a football game?” ,bad. At this point Dan has taken him from “worst starting player in the SEC” to “average or slightly above”. The actual amount of improvement since this spring has been nothing short of impressive. It may not be till his senior year for the guy to be a full time weapon, but his arrow is definitely pointing up
