Personally i think everything since the bcs went away has been awful for cfb and the cfb postseason. The bcs got the rightful champ right every year, maximized the value and prestige of the bowl system, and made the regular season extremely valuable. Screw playoffs. we should go back to how things were in the late 90s and early 2000s. Those were great times.

Amen!

It'll never work. Rivalry games matter.
Do they, do they matter?
I'm dictator and I can do what I want.
You play all 11 other teams in your conference. Then the last week (thanksgiving) you play your OOC rivalry game if you have one. If you don't then get one.
Conference 1&2 play conference championship game the follwing week. None of this divisional crap. Playoffs the following week.
NC game played on New Year's day the way God intended.

I lied. I couldn't even come up with 48 decent teams. I challenge you to do otherwise.
So 10 team conferences. I like that better anyway. Play all 9 teams in your conference. Plus an OOC rival. That's 10 games. And a cupcake on HC weekend to get it to 11.

Rivalry game played Saturday before Turkey day.
Conference Championship played week after.
Playoffs 2nd Sat un Dec.
NC game on New Year's.

Your welcome.

Your new conferences:
SEC

Auburn
Florida

Ole Miss

FSU
Miami
Clemson

2 points:

1. There is no reason for SEC fans to want an expanded playoff.

2. If it does expand, 6 is better than 8. Imagine the last weekend of the season if 2 teams were fighting for first round byes, 2 for home field advantage in the first round, and everyone else for the last 2 spots. Now that would be intense.

Eight makes a lot of sense. It's the perfect balance. There'll be plenty of bytching and moaning from the peripheral teams left out, but that's okay. A little bit of discourse keeps the fans on edge.
The perfect balance of what? You go t to 8, then # 9 bytches, go to 16, then #17 bytches. In reality there is such a fall off from the top two or three that the rest are just a cluster ****. You could put 5 through10 in just about any order and you wouldn't be wrong.

You wanna see bama win and NC every year? Cuz that's how bama wins an NC every year. An eight team playoff benefits the deepest teams. Teams that can have their Heisman QB go out with an injury and plug in a QB just as good. The rich will just get richer.

:exactly:
I have no idea why a Gator fan would want even a 4 team playoff let alone an 8 team playoff. Win the SEC, play for the NC. Easiest path.

The perfect balance of what?

Appeasing the regular-season advocates.

While ...

Making it a more inclusive and exciting postseason.

Seriously, who cares if it favors the SEC by making it an exclusive club? If you really feel that way, you should favor an eight-team format on the logic of filling at least one of the at-large bids, maybe even two with SEC teams.

It's all about what's good for college football. Period.

You close-minded doofs really do humor me. :snicker:

Inclusive!? :rainbow:

I really don't care about the rest of the SEC (or anyone else for that matter). I only care about UF. As should you.
Shortest path:Win the SEC, play for the NC.

Either you're a Gator football fan first or you're not.

Lol, gotta love these arguments that end in you're either a Gator or Gator bait. That's tantamount to saying you have nothing to say. I'll make it easier. No playoff at all. We'll just appoint UF as lifetime national champion with everyone else playing for second place. Problem solved.

Then everyone will laugh at our self-appointed championships the same way that we laugh at most of Bama's championship claims prior to the '90s

No.
Unlike you I'm a Gator football fan more than a college football fan. Honestly I only watch other games to watch rivals get embarrassed because it's not enough that I win, all my enemies must lose.
Unlike you I think the SEC is the best conference in football so unlike you I think that the winner of the SEC is most likely one of the two best teams in the country. And unlike you I see no value in playing wannabes before the NC in the interest of "inclusivity".

Win the SEC, play for the NC.

P.S. Either you're a Gator or you're Gator Bait.
