$20M for 5 years = $4M/year. Don't know what Houston has been paying, but that would be a helluva bargain for a head coach in a major conference. WVA paid less I guess?

Does the contract include a stipulation that he get a presentable haircut? The guy looks like a moron.

Interesting. I wonder is Houston is going to push for the Big 12 invite again. If they expanded I would expect them and Memphis to be the top teams they look at.

The Houston contract averages only 300k a year more, but it's guaranteed for six years. WVU balked at extending him beyond the 2021 contract expiration after the 8-4 finish this year.

The Big 12 could add Houston, Memphis, ND and or UCF.

I would really like to see 6 Power Conferences

Probably a very smart move. I don't follow WVU football (why would anyone?), but i did happen to watch a couple of their games this year as well as their bowl game against 'cuse. Their offense w/o Grier dropped off significantly. I know nothing about their roster, but a quick check on Rivals shows their last five classes in 30+ range (their current class sits at 56 - ouch!). He probably stood a good chance of getting fired in a year or two, and this gives him a chance for a fresh start and probably four years at least. If Ginger is correct about them making a run at B-12 membership there's a lot of logic to their offer and his acceptance.

He got out when the gettin' it was good. Perfect timing for him, I think, if he was not going to get any better offer to leave WV this offseason.

But then again Morgantown is a shythole. It's the Starkeville, MS of the B12.

How awful must Morgantown be for someone to willfully leave there for Houston?
I've been to Morgantown several times. The last time was for a job interview at UWVa. It's actually pricier than you think and the town is old and dirty and the weather is not great. I'm happy I didn't get the job.

Only thing you needed to say was the abbreviation that follows Morgantown. WV.
