I agree with that assessment but we saw what SOS could do with these types of players at SC. We need top talent in todays world. How many SOSs are out there?
SOS could sneak up on Bammer once. But he certainly didn't beat them or other elite teams much. Especially now that the SEC seems deeper than ever.

I'm not sure back in the day that half of the bluechippers in the country signed with the SEC. I think it used to be more like 35% but I'm guessing.

You need to be DEEEEEEP now to make it through an SEC season.

You're right. SOS was not the same there.

We've been on both ends of the spectrum. We had Spurrier who was more about coaching them up and development. And we've had Urban who was more of the hired gun, recruit to win types. They both were successful. Urban's actually won more. But I'd prefer the Spurrier type. It gives us lasting power.

My belief is that Mullen is closer to Spurrier than Meyer. He's not gonna win by loading up on high end talent, though he'll get more than what we have currently, but he'll win by having solid QB play and well-coached athletes.

That's huge. I thought our guys were just guessing we were the leader.

Too much to get greedy and hope for Moore AND another DT?

I forgot about Smith Vilbert. SDE, 6-6 245 pounds. He would be a solid addition. Smith Vilbert, 2019 Strongside defensive end - Rivals

Not sure why they consider him an SDE. Maybe he is a tweener as far as speed goes, a little short of elite WDE speed. Long and rangy. Seems to have a thicker frame (despite 245) and maybe can beef up a bunch. Looks a little raw to me. Hands and leverage not great in what little I can find on him, but a lot of kids get by with just being more talented in high schoool. He gets to fly home and find a foot of snow on the ground and think of Florida sun and beach babes.

Is there a true safety on our board too?

He’s played football for 3 1/2 months. Was a good basketball player before. He’s completely raw and a developmental type but a lot of teams think he can become a solid player

That makes sense looking at his video.
