Urban should be in the ring of honor without a doubt.

He brought us 2 NCs in 3 years.

For those people that want to raise the "scum bag" flag ... I give you Pat Dye, Johnny Majors, Vince Dooley, Bear Bryant ... all scumbags in their own right.

IMO ... Foley talked him into staying after he resigned in 2009. Meyer should have stood his ground and left instead of making us endure a year of him being drugged up. That's the only gripe I have.

Meyer left and went to OhhhBooo St.

Get the F*** over it.

(PS...I think Pell deserves an honorable mention too ... He did what the boosters wanted and put us on the map)

EDIT: Forgot Bobby Bowden on the list of scumbags.

What's the point of having a ring of honor if your not letting the most successful coach in the history of the school in? I don't give a **** about how he left, every football coach we've ever had except Mullen has left. Their all paid mercenaries including SOS.

The problem with Urbs is that when he came to UF nobody realized he was a mercenary. I think Gator nation realized that when he quit the first time. The Suckeyes thought he would stick around forever, until he didn't. I'd bet he pops up again as a coach somewhere. I think he's going to be like Dick Vermeil, lots of stops and successful and with a long hiatus between OSU and whoever is next.

If I had a vote I would vote no.

I guess the question you have to ask yourself is does "breaking the program" (Myer's own words) negate two championships? And does the way Myer went about "breaking the program" and then using it against us after quitting to not spend more time with his family at OSU effect his standing as a Ring of Honor Gator?

You can decide for yourself how much he really knew about the "The 6"3" Hawaiian guy with tattoos with Reggie Nelson."

Hypothetical:
Let’s say they decide to put him in the ring and honor him at halftime of a big game - like FSU or UT - and you happen to be in attendance. What action do you take during the ceremony?
A) Applaud; the man won us 2 nattys and 2 league titles, and recruited TT.
B) Boo; yeah he was successful, but what a mess that we are just starting to emerge from.
C) Sit quietly; the good was great, but the bad was horrendous.
D) Go get a ham sandwich; when you’re hungry, you’re hungry.

So what? You sign a guy to a contract, he fills the cabinets with hardware, then he leaves and you stop paying him. Sounds like a hell of a good deal to me.

Some of you guys act like Meyer signed a lifetime contract in blood, and vowed in the name of Steve Spurrier that he would never take another job.

I was warming to the idea of it happening eventually, but with the latest round of bad publicity and accusations that clock has been reset to zero and currently is not running.

doesn't he meet the qualifications. Not being a giant douche isn't written in the qualifications.

I’d take him back tomorrow and anyone that says otherwise is a complete moron. He never got us into any trouble with the NCAA, owned our rivals and won 2 of our 3 nattys. Was he paid to win or was he paid to be a saint? IMO, all the clowns after him did a hell of a lot more to embarrass us than he did.

Doesn’t he have to be inactive from college football for 8 or 10 years before he’s eligible?

Last time I checked it was a merit honor, not a popularity contest. Meyer's two very large merits deserve honor.

*Heisman Trophy Winners (Spurrier, Wuerffel, Tebow)

*Former UF All-Americans Inducted into NFL Hall of Fame for Accomplishments as Players (Youngblood)

*Former UF All-Americans Who Are NFL Career Category Leaders (E. Smith – rushing)

*Collegiate Career Category Leaders

*Coaches with UF National Championships (INSERT MEYER'S NAME HERE, Spurrier)

*Coaches with at least 3 UF SEC Championships (Spurrier)

*Players with 2 or more consensus All-American honors (AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, AFCA, FWAA, UPI) who have also been named National Offensive/Defensive Players of Year (AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, ABC, AFCA, FWAA, UPI)

He put him with Tebow. Probably because they both went to church together.

Meyer should be in the ROH. 2 National Championships I will cherish forever, I attended one of them. Although he said he broke the program, that was just typical Meyer hyperbole. He has a knack to say really stupid things & that was one of them. Truth is he left us with 2 trophies, a great recruiting class on paper (RoPo blew out his knee), he left us behind with Driskel who should have been good (He got Muschamped).

He also started the Gator walk, he dug up the lyrics to the fight song, his offense made Tebow a star, who knows how Tebow goes in a different offense. Also, he brought us Mullen which now looks like a very good thing.

My next post will be about why I hate Emmitt Smith.

i hate Emmitt Smith and here’s why:

1. When I was in college, he appeared on Roy Firestone along side Michael Irvin and when Firestone asked about their college rivalry, Smith said “I’m an adopted Hurricane” I will remember that as long as I live.

2. Emmitt “forgot” to mention UF in his NFL HOF speech. I call BS, he didn’t forget

3. He dressed in Georgia gear & put it on twitter. What true Gator does that.

4. And of course, he was a Cowboy

Ive never understood why we put college players in the ROH for what they did in the pros.

Errict Rhett should be HOF before Emmitt.
