Gators win. Crisp with the three out save. Three very hard hit balls but three outs nonetheless.

Good to see Acton and Langworthy get a couple of hits and Fabian knock in the home winner. Also, Jordan Butler started the night as DH and had a 2-out 2 run double in the 1st inning. Hope tomorrow's UCF game doesn't get rained out.

This is why Crisp reminds me a lot of Byrne, tho not in physical stature. Crisp may throw a tad harder, but he is not lights out. However like Byrne his pitches are all around the plate so seeing hard hit balls is not unusual. It would happen to Byrne occasionally when he was not exactly precise. sometimes they were caught but on occasion it would be a blown save. However at least they come in throwing strikes. Nothing worse than a so called closer coming in and walking guys. Good road win for the young guys given the adversity that occurred. Mid week games going to be a roller coaster this season.

Gators up 2-0 over UCF in the first - striking early again!
Edit: 3-0 after 1.

The Gators have so many talented freshmen. Sully killed it in recruiting. We have a shot at another natty in the next 2 years.

3-3 when Sully inserted Nick Pogue, a pitcher with an era of 15. It's now 7-3 and Pogue's era is 16. Sully is a great recruiter and developer of talent, but his in-game management is horrible.

I think he is trying to figure out which of these guys he can trust in midweek games. They've all been bad or average. My guess is he will keep testing these guys to see which ones step up. The midweek games will be a wild ride all season.

:suicide2: Off the cliff we go. Sully the worst coach ever now...
Did I say he was the worst coach ever? I'm pretty sure I also used the term "great" in my statement. I've been saying the same thing about Sully for years, I just haven't been here for you to hear it.

Yeah I know he's a great coach. We have also heard from MANY on here to fire Sully just about every single year too. And yet he is on target to be the winningest coach in UF history in HALF the time of anyone else...

I wouldn't trade Sully for anyone else, there are just decisions that leave me scratching my head. That can also be said about half the managers in MLB these days, so Sully isn't the only one.

Fully agree, I just think you've gotta have a little quicker hook with a guy that thus far hasn't proven anything.

McMullen served up a meat pitch. He's had a rough start to the year.

Hopefully Sully finds a few guys to go during the midweek.

UCF beats us for the 4th straight time 12-9. We used 6 pitchers and none were effective. We made 4 errors, had a passed ball on a strikeout that allowed a run to score, then the pitcher was so unfocused on the next batter, UCF stole home and a wild throw to the plate allowed another run to score all the way from 2nd base. They played a much cleaner game and deserved the win.

I was there. Not much to say. Defensively we were horrendous. Scored enough to win, but some of our young pitchers are not quite ready. Young had some good swings and had 2 line drive outs, but very hard hit balls. By far the best pitcher on the field was the guy who pitched the last 3 or so innings for UCF He must be their closer. Mid 90's. Going to be an up and down year.

I think we'll win a lot of weekend series, but midweek games will be a struggle. Gator baseball always plays a brutal schedule and the depth of the pitching staff will be challenged.
