. The fans won't like it though, and I can't imagine the recruits would be flocking to Tallahassee either..
I agree they will likely give him a test drive. it's probably the smart move since I don't have anything decent nibbling on their hook anyway.

the recruits love him. you noticed none of left even though Willie got fired. Willie was not the one driving that train.

We were dumb enough to not only hire Muschit, but follow that up with hiring of Butterfvvck and give them extensions. The fact that you’re giving FSU this much credit in terms of their lack of stupidity is almost blasphemous.
He gave Chump three extensions and large raises each time.

He loved Chump fo sho.

Local business men/alumni.

That’s a lot of jack for local businesses. Assuming 1,000 businesses (I doubt there’s 1,000 meaningful businesses in Tally), that’s still $18,000 apiece. Substitute alumni and that’s still a lot unless there was a mega donor or two. Not saying you’re wrong that these are the rumors but personally the “pass the hat to the local restaurants, bars & hotels” excuse doesn’t pass the smell test IMO.

I am hearing one put up the majority of the 10mm and other alumni matched. If your livelihood is based on game day it’s an investment.

I imagine Jimmy Sexton has already reached out to Odell, and the conversation was probably something like this:

“Once it becomes clear that they are serious about hiring you, don’t commit to or sign anything without talking to me. If you do this on your own it could end up costing you millions, and you’ll be left high and dry if things don’t work out. But don’t hint that you talked to me until they are Are ready to make you an offer. We wouldn’t want to discourage them.”

Thank you Captain Obvious, but it’s not pretty sure, it’s absolutely certain that FSU & Odell can mutually agree to terms (within the bounds of the law) and everybody on this board (except for you apparently) knows this. However, the question isn’t whether they can do so, the question is do you really believe Haggins would agree to be the permanent head coach without having buyout compensation were he to get fired? While you’re at it, why don’t you enlighten us as to what terms Haggins would agree to were he to be offered the permanent HC job, annual compensation and number of years? You said it could be minimal (again, thanks Capt. O, we know it could be 1 penny per year if Haggins and FSU agreed to that but that’s not happening). Since he bleeds Garnett & Gold and you feel a hometown discount would happen, take a stab at the number you think it would be.

As far as your comment about using online templates and contracts aren’t that difficult to understand, wtf does that even mean? Are you saying that Odell wouldn’t have an agent represent him during negotiations? Do tell.
why do you insist on acting like a d!ckhole

Says the guy taking digs at me (presumably me at least) using online contract templates, contracts not being difficult, etc. If you’re gonna throw ‘me, you’ve got to expect it coming back at you.

But enough about that. I originally tried to engage you in this thread without hurling insults...I’ll try one more time. Do you really believe Haggins would sign a contract that didn’t offer him buyout money protection in the event he got fired? How much do you think he’d accept in salary & number of years on the contract were he offered and agreed to take the HC job? You said earlier they’d get him cheap as sh!t, so please quantify that as cheap as sh!t means different things to different people. What minimum dollar amount buyout would he agree to? Do you think Odell will represent himself in the negotiations or will he hire somebody to represent him? Seriously, I’d like to hear your answers.

I think that you are right that a regular gig as HC would be expensive for FSU, but I think Haggins would accept a one year contract for 2 mil while keeping most of the assistants and the same assistant budget. The admin would give him assurance, perhaps written, that he would remain an ambassador for FSU once the year ended. Jmo.

He might accept that deal. Let’s be honest, though. A one year deal is still the equivalent of being an interim HC. If he’s hired as the permanent head coach, he’s not going to agree to no compensation if he’s fired without cause.

As far as being a one year stop gap, that brings up a whole other set of issues such as recruiting, losing quality assistant coaches (if they have any) to more stable programs, etc. Keep in mind that quite a few of the assistants that came in with Willie are operating on 2 year deals that expire in January 2020. Unless they get re-upped for another two years at FSU, my guess is they’d be inclined to seek out 2 year deals elsewhere.

Odell’s primary strength is that he embodies their program’s history and idealized culture. That’s why he’s an excellent recruiter, it just flows out of him. Not an act, not a pitch. In that way he would be like Coach O, who embodies Louisiana. He’d have to hire administrative help along with the assistants, but the lure of familiarity and stability is strong.

Whoever they hire will walk into their offices each day through Bowden’s image cast through stained glass. For most coaches it will carry the burden of unrealistic expectations. For Odell, that’s a happy thing.

Bottom line - finding another Bowden is nearly impossible. He was 42-26 at WVU before coming to f$u, would they even consider such a coach today?

I have to admit that this post coming from you made me do a double-take. I think I've given you around 10 vacations over the past 5 years for acting like a d!ckhole.
