Yup and the only way they ever get to even a 9 or 10 win season is to cheat like they did with Petrino and Nutt and still never sniff a SEC West title....and that was before they had to compete with TAMU in the conference.....Bert could have kept them at 8-5 or 9-4 just about every year which is about as good as it gets there...

He averaged a 6-7 record while there, but yeah he would’ve kept them at 8-9 wins every year.

That would be interesting. Won’t have the built in Miami area recruiting advantage he had in the late 90s but he’s competent. I would still look for a top offense guy though - I’m sure jerry Jones could pony up some cash to make it happen.

So now we read that someone named Sam Pittman has emerged as a candidate. Although I find the Butch Davis thing intriguing. Who is Sam Pittman? Don;t know, but apparently he is the offensive line coach at UGA, a good recruiter and the highest paid O-Line coach around. Well UGA certainly has built a massive O-Line the past few years and have had a good run game and good pass protection. But isn't someone named Sam Pittman almost exactly what ARKY had with a guy named Bert? So they jettison Bert b/c they hated running north and south, winning 7ish games and going to a bowl. so they bring in some guy from SMOO who wants to run sideways offensive plays with a bunch of lumbering O-lineman made for man on man blocking and not zone schemes? So they are going to want to go back to physical football after hating physical football and have been recruiting for flag football? they should have just kept Bert and understood their lot in SEC West football.

Exactly, rejoice. He’s their best all around assistant. Great coach and recruiter. If we dumped our deadweight and Pittman pilfered their staff.... rivalry flips in one year.
