I had to circle back to this....
Here's what I don't get either. We SHOULD want to play the highest ranked/best notoriety program we could get, right? Instead we've got posters who are head over heels about playing Vagina....Vagina would be a 4-8 team if they played in the SEC and those 4 wins would be out of conference.....UT would literally boat race UVAG by 27 points...Vandy too....

We would/could have a chance to maul Baylor/ND/Mich/Wisc in a game that more than 20 people outside our fanbase would want to watch.....instead we get stuck with a team that just lost to Old Dominion not too long ago and everyone on here acts like JBoss after huffing half a tube of airplane glue...…..
Um, ODU and UVA have only played once. A 28-17 victory for the ‘hoos earlier this season. You’re mixing up UVa and Va Tech. ODU beat Tech last year. But, by all means, rant on.....

Crete's general sentiment I agree with - why do so many people seem happy to be playing a bad team as some kind of reward for a good season? I don't get it.

We had a great moral victory this year - big improvement. Might eke one out next year. Plus, Kirby Bangs is about to lose control. You can see it unraveling now.

But now that the “losing record in SEC play” and “only sideways passing” theories have been debunked, if we beat UGA next year what will be your new stupid thing to bray about?
We had a passing QB and 4 seniors WRS this year. This years offense is atypical for Mullen. Only sideways passing has not been be-bunked. No real conclusions can be drawn using ONE datapoint (season).

Passing Offense: 17th

Rushing Offense: 122nd

Scoring Offense: 37th

Total Offense: 54th

Gleaned from “The Florida Vault” by Norm Carlson (which is great.)

We got our colors and mascot from UVA. A Florida bookstore owner wanted to sell pennants and heard about a store in Charlottesville that had them. The guy in Charlottesville made them the same colors as UVA. All he knew about Florida was that we had alligators, so he put one on the pennants.
And I never knew that.

Not happy about the opponent, but I am happy to be in a NY6 bowl. Didn’t expect it going into the season.

Gotta excuse Crete; as an infant, he was dropped on his head after sliding down the wall.

I watched just a little of the ACC title laugher. The announcers were falling all over themselves about how noble and different UVA’s approach is under their president, AD & Mendenhall. Such BS.

I like this opportunity for several reasons:

First I understood the alternative was playing Memphis in the Cotton bowl. I have some close people who are Memphis fans and I would not like to root against them.

The game should have a lot of Gator fans at it, giving us and them a good experience.

I saw VA give Clemson all they wanted on their first drive, so I bet this game might be more competitive than some think. If it is not I love Gators blowing out the competition.

It is in south fl where we want to attract more great players.

If it is an easy game many new players will get their chance, after all we need to replace a lot of receivers next year.

Let's hope that the players have the right attitude, play hard every down no matter the opponent, and don't take anything for granted.

If you think drink long and hard enough Crete begins to make sense.

Are we still patting ourselves on the back for getting a bid to play NW Connecticut School for the Blind in front of 23 people watching at home on TV....and a half empty stadium.....This one has got 11AM kickoff written all over it....
It’s 8:00pm, blockhead. You’ll be too wasted to find it on the TV that late, so don’t worry about it.
